Hi,
Our swg, ichlor 30, started showing red salt light. Sometimes it is blinking red (very low salt level) and sometimes it is solid red (between 2600-3000) and sometimes back to green. When I enter diagnostic mode, it gives very different readings on salt throughout the day and coincides with those lights. For example in the morning it starts low at 2300, then moves higher throughout the day to 2600-3000, but it varies. The flow and the cell lights are always green so the unite is producing chlorine, but not sure what could be causing the volatile salt readings? The temperature under diagnostics mode is also showing correctly. So it is only the salt level that shows differently. Any thoughts? I thought maybe trying to change the flow switch but if the temperature is reading correctly I wonder if that is really the issue? Thanks!

What is the actual salinity in your pool and how are you measuring it?

I am measuring 3200 with Taylor kit. The issue is that the salt reading in the swg keeps changing throughout the day. Sometimes the light is green and sometimes the light is red and when I enter diagnostic mode and do an instant reading, it matches whatever light is flashing. For example if it’s over 3,000 it stays green but sometimes it drops to 2500 which then blinks red and other times it’s between 2600-3000 and is a solid red which still produces chlorine but says low salt level. If it produces chlorine I can keep going but the issue is I don’t know if it falls below 2500 during the day and then production diminishes, or if it’s too low it will stop all together. I changed the flow switch and it initially showed good salt levels but started showing red light again

Did you install a generic flow switch or a genuine Pentair flow switch?

How old is your iCHlor?

Is it still under warranty?

If you can’t get it to generate reliably it may be time for a new cell.

The IntelliChlor is a higher quality cell that uses the same Power Center. Consider replacing the. IChlor with an IntelliChlor IC40 cell.

How many gallons are in your pool?

Yes was thinking about going ic40 route if needed. Pool is 15500 galllons - would the ic40 work?
