Lowering Salt

Hey folks,

Somehow my salt level climbed up to 3800 and the range for my SWCG is 3000-4000. Even though don't want to drain a little, I feel I should as I don't get much splashout.
How do I determine how much to drain? I would like to take the salt down to 3200 but can't seem to find a way in Pool Math to determine how much water to drain.
Is it just (3800-3200)/3800 * 12,500 gallons = 2,000?

3800 is just fine for the Cirupool RJ45+, really no reason to drain. Also, the salt test is +/- 1 drop in 10, so your salt could be +/-300 from 3800.

Your salt went up due to adding acid, evaporation/top off water (our tap water has a bit of salt content) and swimmer load.

You're good thru the summer and early fall. Given our hard water., your present CH of 575 and our high evaporation rates - a full drain/refill is on your to-do list for fall of 2024 or spring of 2025.

Keep track of your CSI to minimize scalling in your SWG. Keep CSI in the 0.00 to -0.30 (negative 0.30) range.
As the CH rises, you will need to maintain a lower pH to keep CSI in range.

Thanks to the both of you. I really didn't want to drain but I will be away from the pool on vacation for a month or so this summer and I can't have the SWCG fail due to low salt.

I did a drain/refill this spring. My salt is at 2800 ppm and the SWG is working just fine.
Prior to the drain/refill, my salt was over 4000 ppm and my RJ45+ was working well.

You SWG should be fine - just drop your pH to 7.2 and increase your SWG percentage 10% or so before you leave.
