It'd be worth the drive once a month to stock up. We take drives like that for fun all the time.

I get mine at Home Depot. As @PoolStored mentioned, it's available at most "hardware" stores... or big-box approximations thereof. Go for the 31.45% stuff.

I would get 6 gallons of Liquid chlorine if the store is nearby. If you have to drive a ways, get 10.
Get a gallon of muriatic acid.

I'm not telling you to add these tomorrow, I'm asking you to get it in prep.

Add 5pp or liquid chlorine now if you have it.

How much leaves and muck is in the pool?

I have gotten most of the leaves and muck out. Without being able to see...

Just "dry chlorine stabilizer ". Nothing anymore specific?

I have 10 gal of liquid chlorine on hand already. I can add 5ppm tonight though.

I will get the muriatic acid in the morning as well as the stabilizer. Anything else?

What are your water rates. It may be smarter to drain and replace water.

It is a 18x33 oval 54" deep. I believe 18000 gallons.

I would contemplate draining and refilling.. Think this way... drain, labor to clean, refill vs. Labor, gasoline, 40 gallons of chlorine (guess) x 6 = 240$, labor to babysit a slam. I can't recommend an answer.

I make the suggestion because of the color of the water. I'm NOT afraid of clearing it, we can do it. Just gonna cost ?$...we just don't know how much chlorine its going to take.

Do you work from home? Can you check and replace FC every 2-3 hours? If not, I would definately drain. It going to take close monitoring, particularly early in the SLAM, to break the back of algae growth.

I have gotten it back from this every year. Just not sure what all i did. How many days does the SLAM take?

Can take a a few days, or a week or two. Depends on a lot of factors. The biggest is...can you check the pool every two hours? 12-14 hours a day? That will make it go faster.

Aside from new water is the fastest, cheapest, guaranteed way to fix this.
