What tha!!!! U got this though! Ok now go in that corner and be good!Umm... Do NOT wait too long to open your pool. My 7 year streak is decidedly OVER! I officially opened to a swamp. I will start my SLAM and go sit in the corner.....![]()
I just dumped in 6 gallons of 10%. Should raise my FC by 21.

Water temps are coming up quick this year. Our lakes have been steady at 49. No movement in water temp or fish activity. Thst was past 3 weeks and this past Sunday. Went to same lake last night 60 throughout whole lake in 48 hours. That’s a huge quick jump and fish went from 5-6 to moving in.
It’s deff a weird year already.
I am in the exact same spot as u. My water is 57 so my machine is reading 2200 only which puts it in very low mode but I know my test will be 2800 so I don’t want to make my unit “happy” cause I know as water increases reading will increase.Hopefully I didn't overshoot the mark on salt. I was just below 1000 and added 400lbs (per pool math) and it brought it to the expected ~3000. But water temp this morning is 57. When the water temp gets to 90 I hope the salt level doesn't go too high.
Mine was about the same. I think the issue here was that we had an unseasonably warm spring. Normally my pool would still have ice in it until the second week in April... but I was completely thawed already in March. So it just had a lot more time. I didn't open then because the risk of freezing was still too great, but in hindsight maybe dropping a gallon of LC once thawed and circulating with a submersible pump wouldn't have been a bad idea.I wonder if this is some aggressive form of algae? I just turned on the pool and the pool temp shows as 61. Hard to believe the algae is this bad at just 61.
I’m a big supporting of soaking in winter and early spring. I dose in December if I have no ice. I dose again Feb cause I open end of March worse case. It’s very easy to do. Once the nights aren’t in 20’s consecutive I open but I also run my pump 24/7 on a low low speed to keep water moving anyway.Mine was about the same. My pool was dirtier this winter also. Same amount of crazy worms but I had way more dirt. No idea why either. It was a wet wet winter that’s for sureSo far I have emptied my robot vacuum canister 5x. Each time it was so heavy it could not run itself up to the wall to retrieve and I had to "help" it with the cord. It is 90% just dirt. I have never had this much dirt in the pool. Ever. I am not sure where it all came from. This is easy 10x the dirt I have ever seen. At this rate I will be running the robot for a week.
I have a hard time every (earlllllly) spring. I haven't even tried adding it yet because I opened with 50. (Yay pumping the top water)Water is still under 60 degrees and it looks like it takes forever to dissolve in cold water
This is how I do my cya. Dissolves way faster in front of return.I am just about crystal clear. I had almost no CYA in the water either. Just a trace amount. I am adding 10lbs and left it overnight in the skimmer basket but this morning it has hardly dissolved at all. Water is still under 60 degrees and it looks like it takes forever to dissolve in cold water. When this 10lbs finally dissolves I'll test for CYA and add another 5lbs. I kind of overshot my mark with salt too. I thought I was at 1000 but looks like I was more like 1500. So I added too much salt and now am at 3600. This is high but ok I am just worried it will rise too much when the water gets to 90. We'll see!

It should go pretty fast I did 53 oz in a sock this morning in like 3 hours. I squeeze every so often also. My water is 55 only. When I did the first set of cya when I opened the water was like 40.I just did this. I also turned my heater on. Warm water coming out of the return should speed up dissolving CYA.

WalmartMine is not dissolving at all on its own. What kind do you have? Mine dissolves great in warm water but in cold it only seems to do anything when I squeeze it. It says 98% cyanuric acid.

HD, Lowes Walmart are all between $20 and $25 for 4 or 5 lb bags.$25 for 4lbs??
No way deff not. Like 11-13. I forget.$25 for 4lbs??
Man I wish I can roll like that. I talked with my dad’s cousin who was my builder and we threw it around like for 5 mins during lunch the one day. lol. This winter I could have. Zero ice. Ice was off lakes by Feb also cause we were on our boats fishing by March first which is unheard of pretty much.Ours hit 80* in GA today for the first time. Pool season is here!
We don’t close, because of so small of a window of weather around freezing. I think there were <10 days during the winter where I ran the pump nonstop as precaution.
