Pool cleaner switch

Our pump operated pool cleaner died and we switched to an electric one.
Can I leave the dead pump and everything else as is and just unplug the old pool cleaner? What about the return line in the pool where the pool wall connector is? After removing it, should I leave the hole open or close it?

Is it a vacuum line or pressure line? If pressure, I'd use it as another return.

Remove the old cleaner from the pool along with the wall fitting. You can leave the old booster pump in place, or remove it and use 3/4" threaded pipe plugs to plug the holes where the hoses are now located (if it was plumbed that way as 99.99% are). Old hoses can fail and, as there is always water going through booster-pump plumbing, regardless of it being on or not, cause a large leak.
