My pool has a really nice waterfall made from natural stone. Pool is from 1998. When I run the waterfall it leaves brown sand on the bottom of my pool. I have lived here since 2018 and it did it a little bit then, but worse now. This summer it was so bad that the pool would look super dirty from the sand if I took out the suction cleaner, which I usually do when many people are in the pool. I cleaned my filter recently and instead of the usual organic matter, the cartridges were full of tons of brown sand. Is there anything I can do like a sealer of some sort? My BIL tried power washing the stones years ago, and we stopped because all it really did was erode the stones, not clean them like my flagstone decking. Any ideas?

I don't think there is anything that will keep natural stone from returning to nature as sand over time. Especially once it begins deteriorating.

Hmm ok. I asked because when we had the pool replastered a few years ago, one of the bids had a ton of extra money for stone sealer.
