HELP - Greenish colored water, semi-clear

Feel free to do the OCLT, but remember there are 3 tests you must pass to end the SLAM including the visual test. Until your eyes tell you the water is crystal clear and you pass that test, there is not much sense in doing the others just yet (unless you like setting an alarm to do pool testing before the sun comes up :) )
Okay I do NOT want to get up at the butt crack of dawn.

However note I checked my FC and it has risen to 18! It is pitch dark so no sun to burn it off. 😢

What now 🫣😳

I have a very cloudy pool so unsure what to do. I’ll check it in the morning.

No worries if you go somewhat high, especially in the evening. It doesn't have to be all that exact, as long as 16 is your minimum.

Yep, you are doing good... just keep at it. Patience plays a key role at this point in the SLAM when you are waiting on your chlorine to kill the algae and your filter to filter out the dead algae.

Your job is to keep your chlorine at the SLAM level by testing and adding chlorine multiple times a day, brush daily, and keep an eye on your filter pressure.

It can also be helpful to take a daily picture to see progress. Maybe one day you can see the top step, then a day or two later you can see the 2nd step, then the shallow end, then the drain, etc...

Your FC level is fine. You are not ready for OCLT. The last picture you showed still had green pool. That needs to clear before considering the OCLT. You still have algae, so when you are up in morning, top up FC to 16ppm again.

Just keep testing and add LC as needed. It is a good idea to take a picture at the same time each day so you can monitor progress. Sometimes it is hard to see change for one day to the next, but a picture tomorrow, will show improvement over a picture taken 3 days ago.

Okay so this morning my FC was 13, I did ALL the things and added 1 gallon of LC. Pool still cloudy and I am super discouraged. It is so tempting to buy stuff to clear it up fast but I know that’s not the answer. It really has never taken me this long before to get it and keep it clear. Am I missing something? Or just keep on keeping on?

Just saw this thank you …. I posted my reply before reading this. Will keep up.

Post your FC level for the last test you did today (Wednesday) and the first test you do on Thursday. It is not an official OCLT but it will give us an idea of progress.
It may feel like it is taking longer but your pool was really green from your initial picture.

Don’t get discouraged- the
SLAM Process is not generally an overnight success. Keep replenishing fc to 16ppm & doing all the things until
✅ CC is 0.5 or lower;
✅ You pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
AND
✅ The water is clear.
(Crystal Clear w/no algae dead or alive)

All the things👇
*Check & scrub every nook & cranny where algae may hide (light niches, steps, drain covers, ladder handrails, skimmer throats/weirs, abandoned lines, autofill, overflow drains, etc.)
*If water can go there, algae can thrive there.
*Run slam level water through all water features & lines for at least a couple hours a day during the SLAM Process.
*Brush & or vac daily (this breaks up biofilms that algae uses to protect itself from chlorine)
*Backwash/clean filter when pressure rises 25%over clean pressure.

Yesterday was the FIRST day I did not test in the evening, because I stay with my mom overnight and I couldn't leave last night, but here are Tuesday results through first thing today

Tuesday night after sundown 18
Wednesday morning 13 (added 1 gallon LC) a few hrs later it was back to 16
No test at sundown Wednesday so unsure what it was in the evening
Thursday first thing this morning 13 (added 1 gallon LC)

We are brushing at least twice a day, sometimes three when we can AND running the Nautilus vacuum. Clearing debris, emptying skimmer, watching the pressure. My husband said there is improvement and when he brushed the steps there was a small amount of dust like debris he cleared. It's definitely starting to look less green. BUT, we definitely want to be in there swimming AND tomorrow I have an event in the afternoon and it looks like there is NO way it will be crystal clear *sigh*. Oh and in all of this process the door to the skimmer snapped off and I'm trying to get a replacement. That's not causing additional issues is it? I can't imagine it would

It appears you live in TX as well and it is hotter than hades. Seems like everyone is saying we can still swim but you know how uninviting a cloudy pool is. Should I check any other levels or just continue the LC to the 16ppm? My pool supply shop has all kinds of things they will sell me to get it clear and that makes me super wary. I certainly don't want to mess my progress up, but if there is anything that is safe to clear the cloudy I am sure you guys will weigh in! I am a hardcore rule follower so I will only do what yall say that you know works, I can't have backwards progress at this time. Been fighting this since I came home from vacation 11 days (SLAMing for less than that but still working with it).

Thank you in advance always for ALL the help!

This may have been mentioned, but if the pool is cloudy and you can’t see the main drain, it’s not
safe to swim. If someone gets in trouble, especially kids, you need to be able to see them.

Keep going….I'm dealing with the same heat and it's a challenge for sure!

yes that was mentioned ... seeing for safety ... I have been getting in just to get some more leverage for brushing...and to cool off

So Overnight Tuesday (to Wednesday morning) you loss 5ppm. Increased to 16, then after 20 hrs tested again Thursday morning it was only a loss of 3ppm. Based on your comments you did not add LC for nearly 20 hrs i.e. Wednesday late morning to Thursday early morning. I cannot see your PM logs (maybe something with the TFP server) so that appears to be progress if some part of that 20 hrs was in daylight. Post a picture of your pool.
Algae, does’t harm you - it just looks bad. You need to keep up the FC at 16ppm by checking every 2 hrs. That will help clear faster.
As well as vacuuming and clearing your filter.

yes they were filthy so I cleaned them before the SLAM, should I check again?
I would check again. 3 years ago I started a slam with clean filters and I had to clean them after 4 days even though the gauge never showed me that the pressure had gone up considerably. There was so much white milky stuff washing off the filters which was dead algae. Do you have a pool cleaner? That might speed up the process as well.
