Opening my pool and want to do it real nice this time

In response to ur 50 cya. It might be. As mentioned i will test after finishing vacuuming. But just for fun i used the aqua check test strips and everything looks good. It even said my fc might still be high? But the color chart definitely went to the second lowest color of tanish brown. So i might really b close. I will know when i test for real later on 👍👍😊😊. I owe all this to u people. Thank u again and again

Hello. Here are my numbers. Wow. My ph is 7.8. My TA is 100. My CYA (and the correct guesser is Newdude). It definitely is 50 or LESS!! 👍👍👍👍. And my fc is still high. I guess having the solar cover on slowed the loss of fc and the overcast skies helped as well. Because when i left i slammed it based on a 70 CYA to 28. Now my fc is 13!!!!!! I now need it to come down so i will NOT add bleach tonight.1) Can you remind me of what my fc normal level should be with a CYA of 50. Thank u people. Wow. I went down 126 points on my CYA since last year. Second question is now how low should i let the CYA go before i start to add any type of CYA product or not at all?? Please let me know the answers to both questions.

By the way i also tested my fc as someone here recommended by only using 5 ml of pool water and not cutting the drop result in half since i only used 5 ml instead of 10. I have been doing it this way for a bit ever since i tried it both ways and the result was the same

Right click and save this to your computer, then send it to your phone (Or vice versa) so you have one easily accessible at all times.

Remember that target range doesn't know what your recent loss has been. Often times in the summer, you need to dose over target range to end up with some wiggle room at the next dose time.

We've had you running 'hot' as we like to call it and you see the results. Do the same for 50 CYA, aiming for 1 or 2 over target. Towards the end of the season when daily demand is lower, add less accordingly. Your testing will tell you how much you lost recently.

Don't even think about it until 30.

It has a little more error to the test but is close enough for what we need. A 10 is GREAT. A 2 sucks. I personally don't give a rats patootie what comes after the decimal. :ROFLMAO:

I do 5 sometimes myself but for whatever reason find it harder to line up on the vial. So I usually do 10.

Ok thank u. So i will consider a 10 as my high target value so being by fc is 13 i will skip tonight anyway👍and then check again tomorrow. Sound proper to u?

Perfect. Test PH when needed before you dose as it will always be a single digit at that time.

Problem # 3 is solved ✅

(#1 was dump and pray, #2 was CYA)

Very.
I think i sound silly but what is problem 3??that is solved?? And if my ph stays or hovers as before like around 8 or so do i really need to do anything now that all else is where it should be?

what is problem 3??
That you couldn't test PH at 10+ FC. Now it will only be 10 when you add, and most of the remaining 24 hours it will be a single digit and testable.
And if my ph stays or hovers as before like around 8 or so do i really need to do anything now that all else is where it should be?
Nope. If it stays put near 8 it's fine.

The water alarm while well meaning, and also required by code here is problematic. Any medium breeze causes ripples that it doesn't know didn't come from someone entering the water. They go off all the time and not only does everyone get used to all the false alarms, they quickly remove it to silence the annoyance.

They are pretty much just a box like thingie which hangs over the edge. They have a float which triggers an alarm when the float wiggles. This one had an onboard alarm and also a remote device for inside the house.

Fc is 11 right now and TA still 100 and ph lower i believe about 7.5. Still in normal range. So since my fc is still above the target range for an CYA of 50 but I am using 60 as Newdude recommended to give me some leeway. So even with CYA of 60 the minimum is 5 and target is 7-9. So i will not add any chorine tonight either. And hopefully tomorrow everything will still b ok🙏. I cannot believe that since I added the 2 gallons on last Friday night i am still on normal range with my new CYA and another night will go by without having to add any bleach? Amazing?

I do have a question. As u know my ph was originally about 8 at the beginning?? But we were not sure since my fc was so high. Miw we see the ph coming down as my fc normalizes to almost single digits. As far as i can see it definitely 7.5. Lowest i have seen it since pool opening. Do u think it will level off here or maybe even go down to 7.2??? If it does is that ok?? And what do i do if it goes a bit below??? But the TA is staying at 100. When i did the TA test it took 10 drops to turn a bright pinkish red. I left the mixture in the tube while i cleaned up (about 5 minutes) and that solution became LESS red. So i added another drop and it became bright pinkish red again. That does not mean its 110???? Does that happen with that test if u leave the mixture alone for a while?
