Vacation for a week... first time away with a pool

Why close the skimmer?
You want main drain only. If the skimmer clogs while you are away, you could run the pump dry and ruin it. Even if both skimmer and main drain are left open, if the skimmer clogs the pump will not necessarily pull water from the main drain. It’ll still pull air from the skimmer.

Leave tomorrow, so last test;

8.5 FC
.5 CC
7.8 PH

So, do I dump chlorine in today to bring to just under SLAM and still adjust the SWCG? Put some acid in and bring to 7.4? What say yee TFP oracle.

Yeah. Add as close to sundown as possible to wake up with all of it. It seems to have been coming up a hair short so either adjust the SWG to 50% at the 8 hours, or let it ride with 40%/8hours and rely on the extra FC to make up the difference.
Put some acid in and bring to 7.4?
Another call up to you. It will likely remain fairly stable at 7.8. Lowering it may make it bounce back and surpass the 7.8 quicker than it would have.

Ok I did not realize that.

I will leave the PH alone.

With regards to the CHL, if it works here, I'll add the 4 gallons tomorrow am. There is 0 sun tomorrow as we're gonna get quite a bit of rain, and we won't be leaving till mid day anyway.

Safe and happy travels. :)

Rest assured, if there's any hiccups while you're away, we got you. It won't even be the worst water we see that *hour* that you get back.

You be all 'HALP my green pool' and somebody else will be all 'Bought a house that was foreclosed for 5 years' :ROFLMAO:

(And we'll fix ya both)

Lol

I feel bad for some of these posters. I just had high CYA and an algae problem when I first bought the place because the previous owners had no idea.. and I just kicked the can until the following spring cause I closed up the pool about a month after we moved in.

Some pictures tho, wow. Thank God for TFP.

No Lilly pad.

FC was 14.
CC .5
PH 7.8

As I was informed not to treat the SWCG as a Playstation controller playing call of duty (mashing the buttons) adjusting the settings.

What's a good rule of thumb going forward? How often to test and when should I adjust both up and down?
