When I first started getting my water tested at the shop I was told to add a Non Chlorine Oxidiser (Bioguard Oxysheen) whenever I had CC's.
At what level of CC is it necessary to use an additional chemical as opposed to letting the FC do its work?

Today ( it's winter here ) I noticed a small amount of CC while doing my test so I added some of this expensive chemical.
If I keep an adequate level of FC is it even ever needed to add anything else to deal with the CC?

You don’t ever need it in an outdoor pool.

Also important to know that the active ingredient in that Oxysheen product is Potassium Monopersulfate, which interferes with the CC test:

Chlorine is all you need as a sanitiser and an oxidiser.

It really is sinking in now how simple pool care actually is. In the first 4 months of owning the pool the only testing that happened was when I took a sample into the shop. I'd walk out of the shop with an armful of chemicals and a lighter wallet.
I just thought that those purchases were part and parcel of being a pool owner.
Since raising my pH setpoint to 7.8 I use hardly any HCL where as before I was going through litres of the stuff every month.
Those tubs of Oxysheen are $100 each and I was instructed to add it weekly!
It really is a case of buyer beware when being a pool owner.

I wonder what percentage of pool owners have seen the ( TFP ) light and what percentage blindly throw heaps of dollars into their pools every month because that's what they're told?
