Midwest (IN) opening

Hey all I'm back as my hibernation season is coming to an end. 1st just want to say still sooooooo very thankful for this place and the people in it! Anyhow IN is completely insane when it comes to weather and this next week we'll be in low 70's. Think this week is a good time to go ahead and open up the pool? If you're unaware IN weather can go from 70's one week to 40's with snow the next this time of year. My inclination is to open it up but I also don't want to open then hit a freeze spell.....advice? And you'll be seeing a lot more of me again.

If you think you won't be in a sub-freezing condition for an extended period then if you open just continue to run the pump to circulate the water. Back in February 2021 all of us in south Texas did just that to maintain the pool equipment when we went 4-5 days of sub-freezing weather. What got some was the loss of power. So if you think that is stable enough, I know some members use a water temperature of 60 degrees F as a signal to open. That is not a rule, just a option to consider.

We in Texas have had similar swings but it has not dropped below freezing, but highs in 80's and then to low 40's the following week.

I think it's anywhere they have 4 seasons. Today I mowed the lawn and went buck wild with roundup because the weeds and lawn are growing like crazy. Tonight and tomorrow night are 31 degrees. Wednesday through Saturday will be mid 70s.

If you open and it gets cold again, just run the pump. It will only be barely freezing and not in the low 20s. It will be over quick if it does get cold.
