Why get a SWCG rated for more than your Pool Volume?

Just curious and trying to learn but why would I buy the IC60 versus the IC20? My pool is only 12K gal.? The installer we are thinking of going with wants to install a Hayward AQR-925 for $2100 plus 8 bags of salt and tax. Is the 925 overkill for our pool? Also, is evertyhing tested the same way for a salt pool as a chlorinated pool? Can I still use the TF-100 test kit with an SWG? Thanks.

Moved from here.
FIRST, figure out how long you have to run the pool pump(s) and the cost of the electricity to run the pumps. My cost to run the pool circulation and Polaris cleaner is around $1.50/Hr in California so that may be your dominate cost for chlorination. 12 hours can run $18/day or $540/month just to run the smaller chlorine generator!!!

If one had a single speed pump, the ROI at those energy prices for upgrading would be less than a season. Maybe even half a season,

If one has a VS pump already, the cleaner needs much higher RPMs than the SWG. The SWG can be run with the pump in the low 1000s RPMs for 100W to 200W.
