Yes, they always drain, scrub, and then get the winter plugs out. Refill takes about 2 hours with two hoses, considering it’s only 2300 gallon. Water was at 38 degrees upon starting. My heater heats the pool 10 degrees/hr so we should be swimming within the hour. :)
 
So u keep it heated non stop then till it warms up? You don’t let it climb then drop and climb again right? I swore I read that causes corrosion in a heater when the water is very cold like that and you swing the temps so much. I wish I can heat mine and the kids can use it. My water is 42 right now but no way I’m paying that gas bill. Lol

It looks way bigger than that. Lol. Very nice. Kinda makes sense with the size it is to clean it every year and refill.

Yes, once we open the pool, it stays heated to 87 degrees until we close it. The gas bill can be a little expensive in the cold months, but having a pool is a lot cheaper than having a boat (which we got rid of a few years ago)! I’ll use it every day until we close it mid-November.

You can get corrosive condensation if you let it drift below 70 degrees.

I appreciate everything I’ve learned on TFP.
As a result for the most part I haven’t had any troubles over the last couple of years. There are some minor idiosyncrasies with my pool that I’ve learned over the years. It takes so much less time than it used to. Now we are free to enjoy!

Very very cool. The pool is for my wife and kids. The boat is for me and the kids. Luckily my wife doesn’t want to swim till it’s warm out so I escape the gas bill and still get to fish. Lol

Thank you! It’s been quite the journey. We had many challenges to overcome, particularly related to trying to get an in ground pool in the city, but wouldn’t change a thing. It’s truly an oasis for us and our friends. Hope you’re enjoying yours!
 
We also put in a Fiberglass pool in the Chicago suburbs couldn’t happier. What company did you use if you don’t mind me asking?
 
Closed November 6 2023, Opened March 7 2024. Trying to keep this an 8 month season. No issues with startup this year. 5th season with this pool. The fiberglass coat is starting to very slightly fade, particularly on the steps, but otherwise things are looking good! I think I will keep the FC on the lower end of normal this year and see what happens. I will try to post more pics. Today, March 11th, I am enjoying a 60-something day in March in Chicago!IMG_1622.jpeg
