Need help to identify type of return line fitting!

With ink testing I found that this place might have a leak. I was planning to put a plug and see, but... I have no idea what type of jet is this (see picture) and how to plug it or may be remove and replace with eye ball? I am not sure how old is this pool, but minimum 10 years.
Please advice! Thanks in advance!

Are you sure it is a jet? Can you confirm water is coming out of it.

I think it is an anchor so you can connect a floating line to separate the shallow end from the deep end. Is there another one of these on the opposite side of the pool?

Rope anchor‘s that I have seen installed by plaster crews only sit in plaster.
Unlike a pipe that goes through the Shotcrete and can have the ability to allow water to pass along the outside of the pipe if not sealed properly by the plaster crew.
A leak at this accessory would be uncommon.
