Hello I barely set up my filter for the first time ever so it’s completely new, as is my pool, and I am having an issue with the pump’s pre-filter skimmer basket bubbling a lot. When I unscrew the air release valve on the skimmer the water then begins to spirt out a lot then a little then a lot then a little etc. I don’t know what to do :(

I tried looking at other threads and saw someone asked another who had a similar problem if their water ran out while the pump was off! The person whose thread it was said no so I don’t know how that is related, but just thought I would mention this because I AM experiencing that problem!

I also feel like my hayward skimmer and the strainer jet are not sucking in much water either, it doesn’t look/feel like they are, but I also am not sure if that’s just how it supposed to be. My return jet water is definitely bubbling out though.

I have the intex crystal clear sand filter pump and my above ground pool is 13,000 gallons. My pressure gauge is reading 9.

There should be an air relief valve on your sand filter. Mine is a knob on opposite side of my pressure gage. Open that relief valve with pump running until steady stream of water is coming out. The plug you are referring to on the pump itself is a drain plug.

Hi, had same issue. Replaced O rings

Hi, had same problem. I replaced O rings and replaced Teflon tape where parts screw together.

> Replace large O ring (about 6") on the clear lid leaf trap.
> Replace two O rings where the pre-filter container attaches to motor inlet.
>Be sure you have the rubber washers that fit on hoses that attach to pump.
>Use Teflon tape on all screw threads.
>I noted that where pump was leaking in off position- it sucked air through those leak spots, and caused lots of air bubbles under clear lid. The bubbles cause noise in motor.
I have now sealed it, no bubbles no leaks, less motor noise.
