I have a 33,000 inground gunite Anthony pool. My main, single speed 2hp motor has finally given up (bearings) and am looking for a replacement. Last year, I replaced the spa pump with a pentair and want to not just replace the motor but the whole pump here.

My thought is to go to salt but the brass pump housings from Anthony won’t work so might as well replace it all now.

Question for the group: should I go with a 2hp VS or 1.5hp. I have seen conflicting info on this. BTW, I have 2” pipes and 48 sq ft DE filter and a gas heater.

Thanks do any recommendations.

Do you have any automation? Can you post some pictures of the equipment pad? Would really help with recommendations!

Also can you provide a bit more information on this statement? Pictures will help, but a bit of explanation will help too. My thought is to go to salt but the brass pump housings from Anthony won’t work so might as well replace it all now.

Will do but it is 11pm here in the east coast so pics tomorrow!

No automation. Very plain with one aspect I forgot to mention, an in-floor Paramount floor return jets.

The anthony pool pumps body and lid are made of brass. My understanding to move to salt generator the brass is not compatible and will cause issues so best to replace them. This my local PG when I wanted to buy a generator and he wanted to sell me 2 new pumps as well. Technically, I could add the salt generator but it will cause issues down the road....I believed his assessment.

You likely will have to do some plumbing changes. Assuming you have 240V at the pad.
For gold standard - An Intelliflo VSF. Hard to find right now.
Pentair just released some new pumps, the Whisperflo VST. Or the Superflo VST.
For budget pumps, the Calimar VS.

I am fine with the plumbing changes and yes, 240v.

I saw Intelliflo is OOS until like October. I saw a Superflo but only 1.5hp but the top RPM (3450) may be OK but this is where I am looking for your help! Thanks
