Hi!

I opted for a leuders outdoor kitchen countertop for our outdoor kitchen. Leuders is a regional limestone from Leuders, TX, so I am unable to find a bunch of information on this.

We got some burger grease on the countertop. I've tried soap and water and the stain is deep in the stone.

Does anyone know how to get the grease out without messing up my brand new outdoor kitchen?

Thank you so much in advance!

That stone is pretty pourious. I have it for coping and I have given up on trying to keep it perfect. It is what it is.

Best I've seen on youtube is pressure washing. But, be careful with your nozzle distance to not damage the stone. Very low pressure!

You might want to get a sealer on that asap

Its funny you say that. I tried to pressure wash it and I wound up creating grooves in the leuders. :) The pressure washing didn't get the grease out though. :(

Research products for safety on your surface.

Test a spot before applying to large areas.

Thank you. This is helpful. Its just hard to find what actually works on such a porous stone as leuders. Its not really like limestone, but kind of is. I have some of this stonetech stuff, it didn't work unfortunately. Everything I've seen online is conflicting. Some say to use muriatic acid. Some say, absolutely don't use acid. I am at a loss. Wish I'd just used granite.

What about dying it? Maybe you could stain it a darker color… just throwing ideas out there. I’m pretty sure grease in lueders stone I don’t think you’re going to get that out man.

Some other ideas.

Ammonia, acetone, MEK, grain alcohol or tetrachloroethylene.

Note: Never mix chemicals.

If one thing does not work, rinse thoroughly before trying something else.

Research all products before using for personal safety and the safety of whatever you are trying to clean.

Try on a spare stone to see if the product causes any damage.

Yes that’s the plan. Sealer ASAP. I was just trying to get rid of my mess beforehand. Haha. Pressure washer didn’t touch it. I’ll try it again though. Thank you.

Do not use acid.

Maybe baking soda, Borax or Trisodium Phosphate.

Test a spot to see if it causes damage.

Do you have any extra stone from the job?

Try the product on a spare piece stone in case it causes damage.
Thank you! I do have a spare piece. I’ll throw some oil on it and try this.

Go to a tile or stone seller and they should have specific products that should work.
Hey James, do you have any experience with either of these products (the poultice or the stone tech oil remover)? The stone tech product looks interesting, but do you prefer one over the other? I just dumped some oil on a piece of leuders to test them soon.

The first poultice video cracked me up. I think he left it worse than the original stain. :)
