Okay I received my k-2005c test equipment, & I tried it out already with having a guide video.. according to the way I did it from watching the video my results came out to be out of whack, so I was wondering what videos can we following if we need it visual? I know the case says how to do it but I like to see if anyone has any tricks.
Mind u it's been 3wks since our pool has been open & every Saturday I add a new chlorine tab & liquid chlorine @night.
& it's been clear. However due to some days lack of vacuuming there is dirt so it's becoming a bit cloudy. Stock pump, & it's a 14ftx42in. Bestway. & this is the video I've been following:

@mknauss , I'm glad you mentioned the chlorine daily adding. I have NST tablets in the skimmer to help keep it from depleting. However with the water temp usually reaching 90F everyday these past couple of weeks, full sunshine and swimmer load I have had to add liquid chlorine every night to boost it back up to the range suggested by the FC/CYA chart.
I have been using the Taylor K-2005 thus far. After reading the suggestion article on here, I purchased the Taylor K-1515-A FAS-DPD kit to see if that is any better. As of late I'm having trouble with the chlorine test in the 2005 kit. Maybe it's just my eyes, but it seems almost to fade in color during the test as I keep looking at it. If I do the diluted sample method it still reads what the normal method does (before the percieved color fading). We run the fountain jets at night, but with the high night temps the lowest I can get the water is 86F before it spikes back up during the day.

2005 as video says too. &really? I've always thought wkly was enough for a 3440 gal.

A pool loses 2-4ppm of chlorine each day. Maybe more depending on your location and how much sun the pool gets. That's up to 30ppm of chlorine in a week. Basically, if you add even 10ppm of chlorine on Monday, you're at zero by Wednesday.

Ooh. Hm our pool is mostly in shade except in the hottest time of day noon till 4p. But I will keep in mind. I've been sick for a wk & the pool is now green. I'm going to start adding liquid chlorine daily till then

Best not to add the tablets (if you continue using them) in the skimmer. The concentrated acidic water can do damage to equipment. Best to get a floater or stick to liquid chlorine only.

The NST tablets (NST = "non-stabilized tablet") in @AquaCurious's skimmer are cal-hypo, not trichlor. They have a pH of like 11, so -- aside from the gross blue mess they make as they disintegrate -- they're fine in the skimmer basket.

Ah, didn’t catch that. All my calhypo is granular.

This is a 3440 gal bestway. I've been feeling sick but I always had a tab floating & threw in acid a few days ago while pump was off. It's hulk green. So I'm reading the SLAM process but I have a q. How much chlorine from a gallon is safe enough? Would I be using this whole jug all @ once or will it be in portions thru out the days??

With only 3400 gallons & a stock filter you are better off draining, cleaning the pool with 50/50 bleach mix & refilling if it has become a swamp.
You may need to do the SLAM Process upon refill but it will go considerably faster.
To answer your question- Your slam level & maintenance fc level is based on your cya
FC/CYA Levels
PoolMath will help u calculate all dosages.

I used to do that alot. Dumping out & giving up. Now I hear just to use liquid chlorine & muratic acid & a tablet so I'm testing THAT theory. Grand parents are getting upset with the water wasting.
That said, I had just bought this product..
My question now that I'm asking all over the net is It states to leave pump on.. for an hr only after adding acid?
& give it a day & tomorrow test again & determine how much chlorine it needs, correct?? I am using the pool math app.

Pour the acid slowly in front of a return jet while the pump is on. It will mix in thoroughly. You can test again after 30 mins but i usually wait an hour or 2 just to make sure it's evenly dispersed. Definitely no need to wait a full 24 hours.

Great! Thank u 😊
I had just poured it in & I believe I will just leave the pump running, will test later but should I wait till tomorrow to add chlorine?

Bperry,

Yes I was referring to the blue NST tabs. That was all I could get for the longest time. I only recently started using liquid chlorine now that I could find it. My pool stores here have not had it in stock, but I have finally found the one shown above at Walmart.
