Hello all,

I bought a new Century V-Green VS motor to replace an inoperable Max-Flo SP2300VSP VS pump motor and a new Star Clear Plus C1200 filter housing to replace a cracked & leaking Star Clear ll C1100.

How much would you expect to pay for labor to have them installed?

I appreciate your feedback!

e, labor varies from one place to another, along w the skill and experience of the installer...

my suggestion would be to ask around for qualified and reputable companies/people and get 3 bids...go w the one that provides you the best value that can get the job done....with a main filter pump, you sure don't want to go cheap bc the backend costs could far exceed the front end material cost by 3 or 4 times. There's also peace of mind too....good luck

For me it's usually more than I want to pay, so I do it myself. If I am not doing it, I would probably doing something else that costs me money too, so it's hard to beat my labor costs.

@tstex @Bill1974 Thanks!

A friend recommended their pool guy, who appears to be the best value that can get the job done, but I really have no other way to confirm his qualifications and reputation, and he wants $210 to replace the motor & $150 to replace the filter housing.

Thoughts?

you have all the resources to determine your question. Ask all of the people that use him [and the ones that used to use him] how he does [did] ? Ask him for references where he has done this work previously. Warranty for labor? You are supplying the materials.

If you are not locked into the motor and can return it, what would it cost for a whole new pump w warranty? How are the other components of the filtering system? Is buying a whole new one and installing it yourself a better idea?

when things get old, sometimes it's better to go w all new, but that's for you to decide

In my area, 3000 miles away, that is probably an average price, maybe a little high, but not much.

What new VS pump(s) would you recommend?

I would recommend you posting how far your pool is from your equipment pad, any elevation changes, did the prior pump meet your needs, anything it did not do, all your requirements. I would post this in a new thread so you can get a fresh set of eyes and a new perspective. No automation, correct?

Thanks!

I took your advice and posted a new thread seeking feedback on a replacement for my Max-Flo.
What do you mean by "automation"?

e said "What do you mean by "automation"?" lol By saying that, it tells me you do not have it.

This means you are not bound to buying any specific brand of VSpump bc 99% of the time you buy the pump that is the made by the same company that makes your automation software. Automation means you can control and program various pool components from a remote device, your phone and integrate their functions. For instance, you can program when and how long your variable speed pump runs and switch it from running your pool to running your spa and turn on your heater too.
