Use the hard water as you do want some calcium. So it is best to have water with calcium from the tap. But you need to test - so if you have those test strips for the interim then that provides you an estimate of where you are with calcium levels. With the possibility of hard water should I maybe reconsider and have it trucked in?
It should be noted, - test strips, if you have them handy, are not a substitute for testing with a proper test kit, but they are suitable to get an estimate and avoids traveling to pool store (gas prices are currently at record levels) just to test for calcium levels.
If you do go to a pool store to have a full test of your pool water, then don't be conned into buying a bunch of non-essential chemicals. Just take that data and report back for guidance. Suggest you order your test kit ASAP.
