First pool Tampa area - Plumbing question

While I continue to wait for plaster, I installed some cat statues. ;)

The PB sent me a bill for my next installment payment last week. I responded with the list of things that are still not done, lol. So now they are going to come talk to me about the open items early this week. I really hope "early this week" means Monday morning :) Not really sure what we need to talk about...just do the things.

I measured the flow rate of my hose to estimate how long it will take to fill the pool and omg, it's going to take 60 hours! I don't know if I can handle 60 hours of listening to the well cycle on and off...the alternative is to have water trucked in which a neighbor did and said it will cost between $600 and $800.

With all you have spent on the pool it is well worth the cost to have good water trucked in and quickly get your pool filled.

I think we're probably on different water systems, since I'm in Pinellas county. But our 10,000 gallons took about 24 hours to fill. So 60 hours for 21,000 gallons sounds easily within the realm of possibility. I was checking on it constantly, and I would not blame anyone looking at a longer fill for calling a truck out! Just be sure to ask about the balance of the water. Hopefully they just get it from the tap and the balance will be roughly the same. You just don't want anything that's softened or purified that would be aggressive on the plaster.

Your contract should spell out exactly when the draws trigger. Since ours was a renovation and not a build, we had two checkpoints: After tile, and at fill. And even then, there was a contractual callout permitting money to be withheld for any incomplete items at the last draw. Which I did, with the project manager's agreement, for the electrical line item that isn't done yet.

Anyway, the point being: If they haven't reached the checkpoint, they haven't earned the draw. Period. No conversation necessary.

I'm on a well and I know I have iron so trucked in water should be better, lol. I'm still undecided if I want to pay for that. They installed the Intellicenter today so I will pay this bill and we came to an agreement on the last payment... originally the last payment was due a week after start up but now it will be after the build is completed meaning after my missing bowls, autofill, etc.

In this week's episode of "Why did I build a pool":
* Monday:
New guy came by to do pre-plaster checklist. Office told me I would get plaster in 1-3 days after checklist.
* Tuesday: No one.
* Wednesday: No one.
* Thursday: No one. Email office for status update, am told a "crew" would be out that day to "address some items" that are needed before plaster. Still. no. one.
* Friday: One man "crew" shows up and wonders WTF New guy did...proceeds to have phone call with New guy with them disagreeing on what needs to be done. Oh this is fun.

Me: Soooooooooooo, I'm not getting plaster tomorrow, am I. :mad:

I got the card of my prep guy, if you want? He used to work for Pebble Pros before he spun off to do his own thing with the surface prep. I think you're getting WetEdge? So not necessarily as directly applicable as it was for me, since Pebble Pros is the area's only PebbleTec installer. But still, he knows his stuff.

I sent them an email expressing my dissatisfaction with the fact that all the "issues" are things that have been there for months and there was no reason they weren't addressed earlier. They then sent the stucco guy out which has nothing to do with anything actually IN the pool but at least something is getting done, lol. They are now saying that the PM will be out on Monday and plaster on Tuesday...that's my limit, if there's no plaster on Tuesday, I am requesting a meeting with the owner (and don't call me a Karen, Newdude! :LOL: ).

Another customer of theirs posted a negative google review today complaining about the lack of communication (wonder if they saw the "transparency" FB post too, haha). I looked that person's job up and they started at the same time as me but it appears they are further behind and they failed 3 inspections! OMG, at least my pool hasn't failed any inspections. This will be worth it in the end, right? Right?!

Clearly you're not a Karen. A Karen would ask for the manager. You're going straight to the owner. That makes you... An Alpha Karen!

Kidding, of course. The problems sound systemic, so no surprise about other customers posting similar thoughts as yours. I would worry, because of that, any discussion with the owner is potentially going to be just more stonewalling... But nothing to do other than make yourself known and see what comes back.

An Alpha Karen, lol, I like it. I am *sure* I will have plaster on Tuesday and I won't have to go to the manager, er owner. ;) We had a neighborhood party today and one of my neighbors told me he signed with my PB...so he got an earful, haha...well, at least he is prepared now...funny thing...the salesperson told them that my build was delayed because I special ordered something...implying that it was a late change...um, yes, I did "special order" some bowls. In January. 4 months before the build started. The salesperson left out the part where they ordered the wrong bowls and didn't realize it until like July. 🤦‍♀️Our pool build was everyone's favorite topic at the party...I should have just had everyone gather around so we could update everyone at once, haha!

I'd rethink doing it with the well. Not sure you want to put that stress on the well pump or that might be your next repair.

I have some of the white stuff now that you mentioned it. I'll ask the guy that's been here doing my plumbing when he gets here. He's very knowledgeable about pools.

My pool walls look like yours...just a few spots so I wasn't too concerned but then I was walking around in the pool yesterday and saw the steps and was like, "eek! That looks pretty bad!"
