1st Pool Build | Sugar Land - Skimmer Repairs Done - Hardscape Finished

Did you try resetting everything? We had an issue with our heater turning on the first time - so we did a hard reset by turning everything off at the breaker. Not sure if that is the right solution but it worked!
Also - for our pool we have to switch pump to spa mode, then turn spa jets then turn heater…

Hope that helps!

Thank you. I did try those and it didn’t kick on. I did let them know so it’s on the agenda during the fixes that are going on.

So the deck has been cut out and the plumbers will be here tomorrow to adjust the skimmer height and fox pipe lengths etc.

I also had a question about plaster. I have blue surf and I brushed it daily sometimes a couple times. There isn’t much dust yet but I notice that there are shades of color in areas. When you look close up the darker blue areas just seem to have more of the blue plaster.

Is this something that should have been during acid wash?

They did tell me wait 30 days for true color. The pool looks great but these are noticeable to me. So should be something that I bring up or will it just take more time?

Your plaster looks much better than pictures posted in other threads. Each pool has its own character so something you need to decide. For your peace of mind, you should discuss it and determine what is your PB's view. As noted in other posts, the potential fix may be riskier than the current state.

You may want to delay any discussion on plaster color until after the skimmer repairs. That is a major issue and you want that done properly and want their attention on that now.

It is great that they are proceeding with the skimmer repairs. Hope that goes well.

Thanks for the input. I just wanted to know if it was fairly common or if I had to mention it. Since it seems like it's pretty common, i'll bring it up all the way at the end since there are a few patches they fixed when they were plastering that are much darker and the gunite/plaster guys said they would fix it.

I know there are always going to be problems with building anything and contractors, but it's how they fix the issues that separates the good from the bad. So far since day one they have worked to resolve any issues even as big as this one. So I am happy about that even if it's a pain to deal with.

One thing I did think about tonight when looking at that picture. The initial deck was created and level based on the skimmer top, Now that this skimmer has to be moved up about 1.75 inches, they probably have to figure something out about the deck since this wraps around the whole pool. Unless there is a way to adjust the height of the top part of the skimmer and the lid. From the looks of the pictures I don't think it can be.

Skimmer repairs are moving along nicely. Second day gunite crew came and broke out all the gunite they needed to get to the skimmer. Plumbers came out the next day and they measured and installed the new skimmer.

Gunite crew was out yesterday and today to finish the rebuild of the beam and around the skimmer. Tile guy will be up next to do his magic.

Your surface looks pretty similar to mine. With any pebble surface, there's a balance between the pebbles and the backing plaster. In colors where, say, the backing plaster is white, and most of the pebbles are white, it really doesn't matter. But Blue Surf is all blue plaster, with no blue pebbles. So minute changes in the exposure ratio can be noticeable. I've definitely got places in mine where I can point out that there's more plaster showing, just like in your picture.

But maybe I'm weird? I actually like the variations.

Thank you for your input. Yeah I figured it should be somewhat uniform so I was double checking and it seems that it is pretty normal to have variations in it. The pool builder did tell me he would let the PebbleTech Manager know since he is coming out to do patches on the repairs so I will see what he says and share.

Tile has been replaced around the skimmer, they have poured the concrete to fix the deck. Spray deck and paint the area should be today. Then finally we have to have the plaster guys come out to make sure nothing was messed up in the process and cleanup.

You can instantly see the difference of the old skimmer location versus the new one by seeing the opening of the skimmer compared to the original one.

Don't mind the mess, landscapers getting the back area read for pavers and gravel.

Forgot to get back on here and update the skimmer repair. You can instantly see the difference in terms of water level with the before and after of the skimmer.

After that was completed I got the hardscaping done until we get our planters and plants in to finish off the look and then start working on some lighting every where. Also some hedges to cover up the telephone boxes etc so you won't see them when looking from the spa.

This is so much better. Glad the PB rectified the issue with the skimmer. Now you have 2 functional skimmers. Everything else is great as well. it is all coming together nicely.
