Verizon iPhone 13 Deal right now is crazy

So the deal looks like this:

iPhone 13 Pro Max $1,099
Trade in my iPhone 11 Pro Max -$1,000

$99 outright or $4.16 a month for 24 months @0%….

$10/month device access credit if you have a 5G device

So, they are paying my $5.84 a month to get a 2 year newer iPhone.

Trade in deal ends today, just wanted to draw your guys attention to it because that’s not a deal that happens every day.

It’s not free - you are likely paying a premium for your service every month & if you decide you don’t want to do so anymore you will owe them the full price for that “free” phone. Nothing is ever free.

That’s quite surprising- usually its a large monthly charge for said new phone on your bill followed by an equally large bill credit that gets revoked if u cancel your service. That’s not the same as an early termination fee.
Verizon doesn’t work here & I haven’t been a “big 3” high paying customer for many years.
I’m mvno all the way so I likely will be sticking with my unlocked iPhone 6s. There’s always a catch…

It's 1G different.

5G - 4G = 1G.



But seriously, they might slow down the service if they feel like you are using too much data.

They write the contracts in a way that allows them to basically do whatever they want.

The phone can probably do everything from 3G to 5G and what you get depends on where you are and if they want to throttle your service.

And you agree to arbitration with any disputes which does not go in the customers favor more often than not.

The 5G plans were originally going to be cash cows for the companies doing away with the unlimited plans, but the promises of what they could do didn’t happen and nobody raced out to switch. It turns out that the new phones really weren’t any better from a functional standpoint so nobody felt the need to replace their still great phones, like yourself. So they’ve all become heavily enticing to make it happen the other way. At some point enough people will have them and the plans will revert to their original intent. The promise of the untapped market is so enticing that even the Cable TV companies have gotten in the game, and for the same reason, to get customers off the home plans with such high data caps.

While it’s true that they won’t penalize you for leaving, you’ll still owe the 3rd party for the balance of your new phone and they’ll stop making payments on your behalf. So they don’t have you ‘locked in’, but it will also erase any of your savings by switching, so most people won’t. It’s genius on the companies part to give you all that freedom that you’ll never utilize, but somehow feel better about.

Anyone old enough to remember when 4G came out ? It was pretty much the exact same thing. Everyone had truly unlimited plans at the time with 3G and refused to give them up for the limited 4G plans. So the carriers threw every incentive they could to entice the public to switch when there was no real benefit at the time with similar performances between the two. The only difference was profitability. This time they reacted much quicker with lessons learned.
