First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

What were your two FC readings, evening and morning?
You should rethink using the dry acid with your SWG.
Doh! Ok will pick up some Muriatic Acid instead. Amazed the pool company gave me the dry acid after they installed the pool.
FC was 9 yesterday using a 25ml sample and 6.5 today using a 10ml sample. Oddly the CC was zero...i needed to add 10 drops to turn the water light pink from the instructed 5 drops. only 1 drop to clear.

So your FC loss over night was 2.5ppm, that signals organics in your water and gearing up for the SLAM Process
No need to add more than five drops when checking CCs, if it remains clear your result is 0.
There are many things amazing about pool ownership and "expert advice", not all of it good.

Thanks again. Started SLAM this morning

Unless I'm missing something in the last couple posts, it appears you had a little confusion about the CC test. No worries there. But more importantly you failed your OCLT and was going to start a SLAM this morning. If that's still the case, then yes, increase (and maintain) the FC to 24 and begin the SLAM Process.

Thanks, you are correct! My OCLT failed so I am in the middle of the SLAM! So far so good, water looked clean before but now it is sparkling :D

At 24 FC will I be able to take the kids in the pool over the weekend? Seems like a high level of chlorine, so i am a bit worried. cheers

Do not add any CYA/conditioner at this time. Just adjust your SLAM level FC to meet the CYA. So at 50 ppm CYA your FC is 20 ppm.

Why did your CYA level decrease? Did you vac to waste? You would have had to drain 16% of your pool volume to lower the CYA by 10 ppm.

Maybe a testing error on my end? Cya was 52 initially, it was suggested I use a 60 cya for slamming. So it went down maybe 4-5 ppm which may boil down to my newbie testing skills

Most likely testing variation. If you feel more comfortable for swimming only raising the FC to 20 ppm, that is fine. It will still be fighting your algae issues.

Thanks everyone for the fantastic & informative information in this thread. Happy to report I passed the OCLT the past couple of nights. My FC has now drifted down to 7.5 ppm and my CC is at 0.
I've had my SWG off since the SLAM began a few days ago. Should I turn it back on this evening? If so is there a % i should set it to (i.e. 10%, 20% etc.)? Thank you

Those numbers all look great. The TA is a bit high, but it will come down on its own if you continue to use muriatic acid to control pH. For the CC test, you only need add 5 drops. If no pink shows, CC=0. If pink, each drop of R-0871 required to turn it back to clear =.5

If you have a feel for how many ppm the pool uses/consumes per day, use that to find a starting point for an initial setting for the cel. If you don't know a good guess would be 1-2 ppm per day. Just be sure to test daily to see if it is steady or trending up or down.

Thanks chiefwej, yes I bought some muriatic acid liquid the other day. The bottle came wrapped in thick plastic with a warning label indicating to handle with care lol. Hopefully it is safe to add to my pool to bring the PH down :)

The amount of chlorine produced by SWG is a function of the time it runs and the % setting. Generally speaking, start at 50% and increase or decrease run time and/or setting, based on regular FC testing. Once you get a feel for things it gets much easier.
