Jandy Jxi heater issue

How do you know you have gas to the valve ? I believe that therd is a very fine scredn just inside the valve. Could be plugged. The only way I have opened the valve is is by connecting connecting 24 VAC to the relay. Maybe @swamprat69 can help to test the valve.

Do you have any test instruments... multimeter, dual port manometer? Do you have any applicable hand tools ? You can't reliably be directed to troubleshoot without having the correct tools to do so. Inlet gas pressure minimum is 4.0"WC and maximum is 10.5"WC. Outlet gas pressure from the gas valve is -0.2"WC. Inlet gas pressure should not drop below the minimum when the heater attempts to fire. When you get the gas valve, make sure that it is a negative regulator gas valve and labeled as such!
 
i unscrewed the inlet side port on the valve, and opened gas valve, then gas started coming out. there is no lack of power coming to the valve, every other component is recieving voltage when it should, and all resistances between connections are within range. another member that had the same issue just messaged me saying it was the flu sensor. although it was recieving sufficient voltage, it has enough resistance to not open solenoid. i will check this tomorrow and report back. he made a jumper and the heater fired right up, part is 20 dollars
 
Very interesting... Can't figure out why you never got a "check ign" before the igniter was activated and gas relay clicked and never got flashing lights on the Fenwal. Glad it's working for you but still puzzled. @swamprat69 any ideas?
 
Still trying to figure out how you would expect to troubleshoot the heater without using the correct tools and procedures? Kinda like the clueless service technician who randomly replaces parts in the hope of correcting the problem. Apparently there have been some changes made in the heater between the REV G and prior and the REV H and later. Looks like the fusible link might be the flue temp sensor and may have experienced a change from the original factory installed fusible link to an auto reset temperature sensor after Rev H and for any upgrades with the PIB. Would have been much easier using a multimeter to verify voltages/resistances etc.. Could have been a problem with the factory installed fusible link or possibly a safety problem that the fusible link was meant to protect against.

Not sure what you mean here. I checked that I was getting gas, I wasnt concerned about the pressure at that point. Wanted to make sure I didn’t have a crimped or broken gas line. Used a multimeter to check voltage and resistance everywhere. Used another forum members post to get recommended resistance readings. Was fresh out of ideas when I simply messaged old post OP, and he said it was fuseable link, and to make a jumper. If it fires up, it was the problem. I reported those results here. Hopefully someone can also learn from this in the future. The only time I ever got any sort of warning from LED, was if I turned gas valve switch to off, then I would get 3 flashes.

Yeah. I have no idea why either. But this is at least 2 times this happened, thank the stars the original poster of another thread responded and gave me the quick fix.
