Hi all. I was a club member for this forum (Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club)
and was going to post there, but it looks like it’s too old of a thread to solicit responses. Here goes this one

We came back from vacation, and of course as it usually happens coming back from vacations, something goes on not only in the house but the pool… Carbon monoxide detector going off, S200 not working.

Anyhow, Ghostlight, our S200 looks like it was manufactured 3/28/17. So I got a little more than four years out of it. I love the thing. Is it worth fixing?

From the little I have read, these things sound too expensive to repair that it makes purchasing a new one more practical. Is that the case?

I love the S200, but if purchase a new one, is it worth it to get a more advanced one that you could manually control with your phone? I heard Bluetooth is spotty at best. Sure the S200 misses a spot here and there, but is manual override to clean a spot worth the money?

thanks for your condolences as this is a sad day.

B,

Not to me.. I had one with the remote and only used it once, the day I first put it in the pool.

Everyone is different, but I can't see spending money on something I won't ever use.

Tell us what is wrong with "Ghostlight"... Does the power supply work? Does it do nothing at all, or does it move backward and forward and then just stop? Did one of the treads jump its track? When you turn it on, do you see a little water volcano on the surface as it starts up?

In my opinion, once they get water in the main motor, I'd just buy a new one, but other items are not all the expensive.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks.

It turns on at the controller, but it does not move. Recently, if this is important info, for about a month it’s been making a noise like a clicking sound when it’s been cleaning the waterline as the wheels/brushes turn. It’s been working fine just that noise has been present. Today though, nothing.

wow, I just checked marina pool and spa. Way too many similar robots now to look at. I have no idea which one is similar to the S 200 besides the S 200. Anyways, maybe this is a small cheap fix, possibly.

Thanks. I’ll check that. How about the triton PS? Same or different? I just can’t tell.

have my old waffle filters, with those work in these new models? I never use them but they are backup. I only use the mesh ones which ever ones those are classified as.

And I just leave my cleaner in and only take it out to empty the basket and clean them. This thing is a tank. Sure it’s faded it’s a little the chlorine, but it’s done its job well. RIP.

Triton PS is the same I believe. I only use the fine filters. And leave it in the water.

It’s strange why the triton PS is less expensive than the Pentair made by Maytronics (or vice versa because now I can’t remember). A lot of these look like the same version just different price options, which is the confusing part because I’m not sure if I’m understanding the differences.

For instance, this is the cheapest one and it looks similar to the S 200.

Then they got the triton PS at $899. If I’m not missing anything, it looks like it’s the same thing, more expensive, and you don’t get two sets of filters.

And then you got the S200 add $949, the same exact thing, more expensive and two sets of filters.

completely bewildering why one would offer so many different models of the same thing, different names, and different prices.

I need to do Eenie Meenie…

Just so I’m on the same page, are the fine filters the one like mesh on a screen door?
The fine filters are the ones that have the white filter media. The screen door ones are for spring clean up. They are coarse.

Have to call Marina for prices. The prices they show on the website are what are allowed by Maytronics to be shown. You get the real prices by calling or emailing them.

Warrior SE and S200 are powered by the same motor with identical features just different colors/names

On this page there a few links to pdfs comparing the various features of the many maytronics powered robots.

Find the features you want and get any of the available models with those features.

I just bought an Active 20 from Marina on Saturday, and I assume they still have some in stock since they didn't warn me about running low on that model. It should arrive tomorrow and is identical to the S200 and Warrior SE. I had already done a ton of research, but they confirmed most of this info and were very pleasant and easy to deal with once I got them on the phone (that's the hard part). They charged me the same as what the SE is listed for and even threw in a free filter upgrade because I need to handle both large and fine debris all year.

Thanks for all the replies.

For the handy part, yeah I can tinker a little bit and can make matters worse 🤣, but that looks like a little more than I would anticipate. I could do that repair that looks like cheaper route, but then I still have to buy that motor unit or motherboard whatever it’s called for approximately $400. Couple hundred more I might as well purchase new.

yes a sad day for Ghostlight and I never thought I’d be in this situation just yet, I thought this tank would keep Goin for years

Even if I try that repair, and it does cost about $400 for this motor unit, how long is that gonna last?

OK great. The active 20 is going for the same price as the warrior.

I watched that video. Was definitely hoping it would be that. Was very easy to get to the impeller. My impeller however is spotless. Absolutely nothing around it. It spins freely as well; not seized. That first link from that other member stated that if the impeller is seized it would mean that there’s something wrong with the motor. But since my impeller is not seized then my motor should be fine.

Put it all back together, connected it to the controller, activated the on button, and nothing. No movement, nothing.

Thoughts anyone?

If you get a new one, I would keep some of the parts from the old one. Especially the motor. If your cord is in good shape, would keep that too.
