Out of the blue my SWG had no lights/display/nothing. Power is coming into the unit from the main line. It's a 20 yr old system that I replaced a mainboard on about 6 yrs ago and the cell again just this spring. Nothing looked burnt on the board but I ordered a new one and replaced it. No change. Then I thought maybe the display had gone bad and ordered a new one of those. No change. Looking through the Hayward troubleshooting for no lcd/led after checking voltage, fuses and replacing those 2 pieces they assume that the problem is solved. What else could it be?

Do you have pictures of everything in the box?
Did you measure the voltage at the terminals?

Two terminals don't have the wires connected.
The yellow wire from the transformer is burnt.
You should cut off the burnt part and redo it.
The rectifiers might be bad.
You can replace the rectifiers.

Those 2 terminals have always been empty (since we've lived here 7 yrs and I'm assuming the 20 yrs before that). Not sure why, but the yellow and orange out of the transformer go to the rectifier and then to a 'plug' at the bottom of the housing box, but not the board.
Thanks for noticing the burnt yellow wire. I don't think there will be enough to cut and redo the end. Do I need a new transformer, or how do I go about fixing that?

Ok, the plug is just a fuse.
Most likely, the fuse is bad.
The older models had the fuse on the bottom and the newer models use the yellow 20 amp fuse on the board.
Just connect the yellow and orange to the terminals on the board instead of the bottom plug.
Just cut off the bad section of the yellow wires and use a new piece of wire connected by a wire nut.
You can get crimp on spade connectors at the hardware store.
Get some #14 AWG wire, some wire nuts and some 1/4" female spade connectors.
