Iowa Vinyl Pool

Check your local news. If it is you’ll have air quality alerts specifically about it. I think ours were lifted but you’re twice as close as me, give or take.

I am unsure how I over shot the chlorine as much as I did... I've actually been measuring... hmmm. I must've lost count...

Using the Effects of Adding, I think I added an extra quart unintentionally... ugh.
I recommend not using Effects of Adding to calculate chlorine additions actually. On the Overview screen with the colored boxes for FC, pH, etc that shows your latest test values, touch the purple FC box. This brings up an addition page with a pre-filled in section for current FC based on your last test result. Enter your desired target value and it calculates how much to add. There is there a button at the bottom to then log the addition.

This works for lowering pH and raising TA/CH/CYA too. This is the primary way you are supposed to calculate additions. Effects of Adding is primarily useful for seeing what effects other than the primary item you add, not so much for calculating the primary additions themselves.

Hopefully this helps!

I don't use the Effect for Adding when I calculate how much chlorine to use, I go into the FC box. I only used the EoA for trying to back into how much I over shot in this one instance.

So you know how people say some houses are "lived in"... especially if you have kids, you just have stuff... everywhere. The kids drag all their toys and books through the house. Well... our pool area was LIVED IN. I should have taken a picture... 🤣 it was like a pool explosion... towels, shoes, sunblock, dive toys, goggles, rafts. It was ridiculous... but we had an amazing day! 😊🤣

Oh and this pic of my kiddos! ❤️❤️❤️BE56EA5A-B26E-476C-8C4E-376BB69823B2.jpeg

*exaclty*. And I cannot stress this enough…. *******EXACTLY****** why you built the pool. Sure it will be ‘looked at’ more often than not. (Especially if you count the winter)

But.

it was built for use. And said use ups the fun factor of the day exponentially. 52 pool noodles, 6 goggles, 14 dive toys, Towels, and a total yard sale of everything else is mere collateral damage.

I just read hour whole build thread! What a wonderful fun read it was! SO much teaching and learning going on! The support given is awesome! THANKS everyone that helped out!

So lets talk about something that has not happened yet but it will as more kids come visit or even your own does it-------------:poop: in the pool. WHEN it happens NO worries! IF you can get it out do so, then all people out, push FC up to SLAM level with the pump on high and let it run for about 30 mins. Carry on having fun!

Btw my 8 year old daughter calls me a pool scientist. I told her in 2 years I'm going to train her to be a pool scientist too.

Mine was about 10 when I got the kit. She thought it was the coolest thing ever for about a week then got bored and left me hanging.
