We had a big swim party the other day and the water got cloudy. It's getting better, but not all the way clear, I did increase my SWG output to increase my FC, but put it back to normal this morning. Any ideas on what I should do? I run my pump and SWG 24/7. I added PH minus today to lower my PH and TA as well. Here are my results from this AM.

FC = 8
CC = 0
CYA = 70
CH = 0
TA = 90
Salt = 3000
PH 7.8
Water temp 81F

Please start using muriatic acid to drop PH, PH down has stuff that can mess with your SWG.. MA is a better product to use..

I would do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test tonight and see how it is in the morning.. leave your pump running and turn off your SWG tonight 30 to 60 minutes before you test and leave off till after you test in the morning... :)

@cowboycasey I've had a hard time finding muriatic acid in our town. I think I have my TA where it needs to be, so I'll start with the acid when my PH drifts back up. I'll buy some online. I'll do the chlorine loss test tonight and report back in the AM.

try Lowes, home depot, ace, hardware stores, lumber stores.. We have Atwoods stores here.. do you have any bulk feed western stores..

@cowboycasey I checked at Lowe's, Rural King, a few lumber stores and our local ag/farm store. I might be able to go into the town next to us which is bigger and see if they have any. I have plenty of socks for the acid...just no acid.

@cowboycasey, I'll look again, but most of the local stores don't have anything liquid, or much of any other kind of pool chemical (not talking about chlorine pucks). It's really strange. Thanks for showing me a picture of the bottle though!

Is it okay to use dry stabilizer (CYA). It's listed as 98.6% CYA, or should I use something different there?

Yes. Use the sock method and don’t dump it into the skimmer like it says to. It’s acid and acid is no good through your pump/swg/heater no matter what the supplies manufacturer says.

ahhh... You want muriatic acid to drop PH.. Any of those stores will usually have it...

You are thinking CYA or cyanuric acid and that is used as sunscreen and it is harder to find.. I buy mine in bulk of Amazon :)

Thank you for this link. I've been having a hard time finding it as well...

You need to see the bottom in case someone is drowning. FC up to and including SLaM level per the FC/CYA Levels is safe to swim.

So it’s only a swimmer safety issue and not a chemical safety one.

Okay thanks. The pool is clear all the way to the bottom just had a slight cloudiness after a bunch of people swam in it. Had a FC loss of 1 last night.

Also, by ‘seeing the bottom’, it does not need to be TFP clear, or even close to it. It doesn’t matter if the swimmer is hazy at the bottom. You just need to know *exactly* where they are god-forbid. You can test it by dropping in a medium sized toy. You don’t need to be able to read the writing on the toy as long as you know it’s *exactly* there. :)
