My deck color makes me want to cry

Might be a bit dramatic but I really do not like my brand new pool deck color. Every time I look at it I want to cry! Help!

We were finally able to pour our deck - salted concrete with color. It is "platinum grey" which is a lighter grey. I thought it would be a great color but as soon as I saw it finished, I knew I was completely wrong and should have gone with a cream color. It is just SO MUCH grey (we have a huge patio) and the color does not go with our house exterior or the surrounding of our backyard. It looks bad.

My question is... has anyone re-colored their colored concrete? Will something like KoolDeck work? Does it just paint over the color? Would it cover? Would it work with salted concrete? Any idea of costs? I am just so upset that I messed this up.

They sell concrete paint at Home Depot or Lowe’s in lots of colors so it’s definitely fixable. But I want to let you know I understand. I made a mistake I need to fix and feel horrible about it but realize there’s hope. Mine I knew was a mistake but I thought I would be ok with it.

Thank you for your suggestion and support. I appreciate it! I am looking into those diy paints. Also trying to decide if it will bother me less when the patio furniture is on the deck (but honestly think it will bother me no matter what).

Glad to help! Staining concrete vs paint can also be an option. The stains I saw sampled once were pretty sheer but I'm not sure what the stains options are today. I plan to get pavers sealed and there are sealants that change the color but usually only darker.

You can get an acrylic overlay and then pick your color. It is like Kooldeck in texture. We have it and really like it. It is cooler than regular concrete too.

Don't know if you'd be able to get grey to beige with just a stain. I stained some standard grey 12x12 pavers with a Quikcrete Semi-transparent tan/brown & they've held up well 10 yrs later. Was easy to put on with a roller-on-a-stick, but these didn't require any existing finish prep. Definitely test in a hidden spot first.

i think it might help you to know that you can always paint it later - i would suggest getting your patio situated as you like and living with it for a season to see how it really sets in with you. Do you have pictures?

Yea, I’d live with it for a season as well. The color may fade a bit.

+1. I absolutely hated my pavers as they were almost brown. When wet they would turn dark mud colored. They faded pretty quick in a year or two to much more of a dessert sand color and I loved them from there. Half because it was a lighter shade and half because what was left grew on me.

The Mrs loved them the whole time so lucky for me the biggest hurdle was already taken care of and I just had to come around. But the fading really helped my views.
