Having issues with pressure of guage high, low water pressure after an hour. Have cleaned and soaked the fingers multiple times. Same issue. Last year it was spitting out DE and wasnt used. This year changed the bumper seal. Could it be the pool was extremely dirty? Pool is cloudy blue as I dont want to run it when Im not around. Maybe less DE than recommended? I didnt see any tears in the fingers. Can they still be bad anyway? Sorry, so many options. :(

Sound to me the filter is working fine. You have algae. That plugs DE filters really quick.
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100 or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
 
What you have is correct only if the following is true. Does the psi gauge drop back to zero when pump is off ? Are you backwashing it removing ALL the DE and are you replacing the DE immediately with the proper amount ? Have one such pool and it's a great filter once the algae is gone but until then you'd need to baby sit it as it's doing what it's designed to to. Keep the slam up and brush twice minimum daily.

Water pressure has been returning to zero. I replaced the guage this spring.

I've had my EC75 for 25 years. Love everything about it except the time it takes to give it a good cleaning. So many nuts & bolts.
What's your pressure after cleaning & what's the "high" pressure?
What are you soaking the fingers in?
Can you post a picture of the pool water?

I've dealt with an EC50 and I didn't take all those fingers apart. Find a suitable container that it can hang in being completely submerged. Since you don't want it to put pressure by sitting on the bottom of this container of choice I did the following. Made the tsp mixture and hung it from a branch or whatever you find to tie it to so it's suspended and not hitting the floor of this vessel it's soaking in. When done just hose off well.

I pull the finger assembly on mine and hose off all of the DE. The fingers fit suspended in a tall five gallon bucket. The flange sits on the bucket rim and the fingers hang free without touching the bottom of the bucket. I use a TSP mixture to get any oil off. If they are really bad the bucket has a mix of water / muriatic acid instead of the TSP. Let it soak for a couple of hours. Hose it off well when you are finished.

That was my next idea instead of using the TSP mixture.

What size water sample did you use? the first drops to clear (R0871) is the FC. Then if you continue with the R0003 that is for CC.
 
That's a lot of drops for the FAS-DPD test. You have three water sample sizes you can test with (25ml, 10ml, 5ml). You get reduced accuracy with the smaller sample sizes. Having said that the 10ml size is fine for everyday testing. I use the 5ml size for SLAM levels of FC since it uses less reagents.
 
Ok. Nineteen drops to clear with a 10ml sample means your FC = 9.5 (19*.5). Once it's clear you add the 5 drops of R0003. If it stays clear you don't have any CC. If it goes pink you add the R0871 until clear. You said three drops to go clear again. That's CC = 1.5. You want CC = 0.
 
If your pool is cloudy you probably have algae. DE filters are really good at filtration so it's filling up fast. Did you test CYA yourself? You can't use partial numbers on the test so 32 is a bad number. It is either 30 or 40. Round up if you are not sure. You need to SLAM. You are also going to have to baby sit that filter until you get ahead of the algae.
