Face painting and pool party...bad idea?

My son's birthday party is coming up and my mother-in-law wants to hire someone to do balloon animals and FACE PAINTING for the kids...now, prior to being a pool owner, that would've been great! I am concerned about having a bunch of kids (mostly 4-5 year olds) getting in and out of the pool with face paint. What's the worse that could happen if all these little kids (about 10 of them) end up getting in the pool and washing off the paint in it? Any damage? I would assume not...i dont think its latex or oil based paint on a childs face...i might have to slam the pool and run the filter at higher speed or something right?

Thoughts?

It should be fine?
It's a bad idea?

Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure I would see any harm to the pool.. towels, maybe.

Why not just structure the party so you swim first, dry off, eat cake, then get face painting and balloons?

Both good points i thought about. Towels, i plan on getting some throw down towels at the dollar store or something cheap! My main concern is any damage to the pool or equipment. I thought about how to structure the party to avoid the kids in the pool with paint, but I cant see it working out properly...its like herding cats lol.

Real easy tho. Swim, have lots of fun/pizza. Towards the end get em all painted up, serve cake and send them on their way to show off the artwork at home. The kids won’t care if it was before or after swimming and they’ll enjoy it a lot more being after.

Hype it up during the party about the big surprise *after* swimming. It will be in their heads the whole time that it’s to take home.

*newdude lost count of how many Birthday Party rodeos he entered over the years. Way more than one. 😁

^ great idea on the skimmer sock. Our neighbor is having their side of the fence painted and I noticed the skimmer sock got a lot of the overspray.

Thought about that...but the parents are friends of ours who we regularly party with and the rest is family. In an ideal situation, everyone would bail out at the "party end time"...i doubt most will leave lol so that will leave the kids still there with paint on. My mom is a caterer and we love to entertain, so this isnt a typical pizza cake and bail out party...i do this to myself every time

Ideally, it would be guests show up, food is ready shortly after for parents to eat, kids eat about an hour or so in after swimming for an hour or so, then the piñata ( i am mexican lol), then the cake, goodie bags, EVRYONE GO HOME,. I feel like i could maybe get the paint in post swim/during food time, and once the kids are dried off, we go out to piñata and cake...then everyone go home...i hope

Ahhhhhh. So it’s a blessing and a curse. As much as I despised the whole class parties with people we really didn’t know, I LOVED the 2 hour structure of them. Sweet !!! Time to go !! Lol.

all my parties at home were with folks that might decide to stay for the weekend so we never had ‘end times’. I SO hear ya there.

Maybe list a start and END time on the inviations..... 1pm-4pm
Swimming first, then eat, cake, open presents - and face painting last.

At 4pm, thank everyone for coming - most should get the hint.
For those who don't, a more blunt reminder should do it.

Exactly, all of that lol

I think i am going to veto the face painting and balloon animals....pool party, piñata, cake, food, goodie bags...thats good enough...more than i had at that age lol less mess and dont have to worry about paint in the pool
