The tile and coping were installed on my pool and it looks improper to me. There is a gap where the coping falls short of the bond beam edge. I would rather not chip away the beam and this will be an expense to isolate the deck and bond beam. The same company shot the shotcrete and dirt the coping. The 12-14” width of the bond beam was mentioned but there is almost no communication or oversight with the company, who is regarded as one of the best in Austin

the gap behind the skimmer is abysmal. No questions were asked if it should be square or rounded and a round piece was cut into place like that. I was given an excuse that the corner skimmer is a design flaw, which I don’t think is a valid excuse to do what they d

what are the thoughts on proper deck to bond beam joints and where the coping should e

What the.......Looks like they ran out of coping and literally "cut the corner" to fit. How are you supposed to ever service that corner under the coping? How will they even put plaster in there? I have heard of cantilevered, but that is ridiculous!

Any update on this?
Yes. They came and put a coping stone and rock skimmer to cover the gap.
The excavator framed the skimmer in the corner and not where I spray painted it to go about 3 feet over to the middle.
i should have made them redo it. But I thought it would be fine and had already made them tear out two walls of forms to get it right earlier... I think the skimmer pet will be manageable.

for the decking I am going to pour it like this diagram unless anyone has insight on a better method.

I mean wow are you really going to let them get away with this? This is the best builder in the area? I don't see how you can build a pool with that large cavern in the corner of your pool. Not to mention it is a safety/drowning hazard. I wonder if this will pass the pool inspection? I see major problems with this and would suggest an immediate stop work order to fix this properly. I am just wondering how in the world this even got done. The gunite guys should have caught it, the bondbeam guys should have caught it, the skimmer guys should have caught it, the coping guy should have caught it. This is the most Mikey Mouse construction mistake I think I may have ever seen.
