New Build - Austin, Texas - Slide Video

So PB said he doesn't know when startup will be...

In the mean time, once the pool is full of water, is it a good idea to get the pumps running to keep the water stirred up and start filtering out the plaster dust? Does anyone know if I can power on the pumps and control them manually from the pump since my IntelliCenter hasn't been programmed yet? Or does having them connected to the IntelliCenter remove their ability to run them manually from the pump?

You sure earned this win many times over. It seems like forever ago they were building that slide. As soon as I saw it now I remembered the rest of it. Congrats Sparks !!
Thank you! It has been very frustrating, but seeing water go into it definitely is satisfying! Just need to get through with this PB and then enjoy!

No pain no gain they say :) And yours is spectacularly unique and will just be an absolute beauty to look out at from here on out. And you can USE it too !!!

Yes but if you do it yourself because you are capable, and something happens, it will be your fault. You have to let the PB handle everything for the startup period. Once they have it running we can help you sneak in balancing when they aren’t around and then you will feign ignorance when the come back and there is CYA in the water for example. *I dunno what happened..... one of your guys must have come and added it while we were at the store*.

Gotcha. Thanks for the advice!

This all came together real nicely. Great colors on the tile and plaster.
Question - are all those wall inlets (near spa and slide) suction for the slide? I see the light niches so assume those must be suction or maybe one is a return? Just curious. This looks wonderful.
Thank you.

Your assumption is pretty much correct. There are 4 wall inlets there, which feed 2 separate pumps. They plumbed them just like a main drain on the bottom of the pool where they have to two inlets per suction line for anti-entrapment. So 2 of the inlets feed 1 pump which is used for the slide and the 3 bubblers on the tanning deck. The other 2 inlets feed a different pump which is used for the three water sheers on the back wall (the sheers are kind of hard to see from the pictures).

Thank you!

Blue Surf Pebble Sheen.
Thought that was Blue smurf! Pool looks great. Just in time for a summer full of use. Enjoy... hopefully the builder will get you through the start-up in the next day or so. I was excited when they finally plastered my pool and it was full of water. But it looked even better when they started running the pumps and everything was in motion.

Thanks!

PB literally texted me "IDK when startup will happen." Oof.

I had another exciting problem at 9PM tonight. He still needs to finish connecting my main filter pump, but said the plumber would do it today or tomorrow (and he didn't come today). Part of what the plumber needs to do is connect the bonding wire to the water via the return loop, so there is currently a gaping hole where that connection is supposed to take place. Well apparently that hole is at a lower elevation than my pool returns, so once the water reached the pool returns all the water started rushing out that bonding wire hole at the equipment pad. I had to run to Home Depot and buy pool return plugs so that I can keep filling up the pool. We are at about 36 hour of watering now and still have about 9 inches left to get to full.

So water finished filling at 6AM this morning (Thursday). PB said startup won't be until Monday or Tuesday (i.e., no one looking at the chemicals for 5-6 days from after fill).

Anything I should be worried about with this? Seems like a long time to let the chemicals go unchecked based on what I have read here, but maybe I'm worrying too much?

Here is a basic start up link:

You should also look up the start up guide for your kind of plaster if it is known brand.

No one is going to care for or about your plaster like you will or do. Best to take care of it on your own in my eyes.

Haven't posted in a little while, have had a lot going on. PB is still pretty much worthless, haven't gotten a response from him in about 2 weeks now. Glad I withheld some money in case I need to hire someone else to finish up the loose ends of the project.

I finished pool school this last Tuesday, so now I am in control of the chemicals. Currently still using the trichlor pucks and muriatic acid to keep things at bay until I can fire up the SWCG at the end of the month. The pool startup company put no CYA in the pool because they said the pucks would add it over time so it wasn't needed... Except with 30k+ gallons the trichlor pucks just don't seem to be able to keep up with no CYA. I was constantly measuring the chlorine levels at 0 to 0.5 each day. I've been adding CYA over the last 24 hours to try to get that where it should be.

Here are some pictures of where we stand right now with most of the punch list not yet done:

Wow, that looks great. The spa/slide combo looks fantastic. What a way to incorporate a slide without a huge rock waterfall and give some privacy to the spa. We like having our spa at the back of our pool as well so you look back across your pool at the house although you do have a nice green belt view.

what kind of lighting is that along the house? Are those permanent LED? I’ve been thinking about doing the same.
