[Solved - solution in comments]
Quick background. New pool owner. Had to have the tile cleaned and water drained (chemistry out of whack). Pool has been refilled, but it seems like pool service in my area is above capacity, had a couple companies not get back to me/not able to service our pool, so doing it myself. The filter is a "Pentair Clean & Clear" (see signature for equipment).
Refilled the pool, and started by cleaning the cartridge filter. After cleaning and getting everything back together and running, I noticed a small drip around the filter camp. Per the instructions, went around the clamp tapping/hitting with a rubber mallet and tightening the clamp spring/nut until the coils touched again. That drip has since stopped (as far as I can tell/observe), but I noticed that when the pump is off, there is a slight vacuum inside the filter - I can hear the air getting sucked in through the air relief valve and feel the suction with my palm/fingertip. It seems there may be a slight drip/air release from the air relief when the system is on, where the water shoots out, but might be hard to tell if it's just residual water from purging the air.
I started the system manually this morning to verify, and opening the relief valve when starting the pump took about 20 seconds before spraying water out. Not sure if I'm looking for problems/obsessing over having done the work myself, but should that be the case? Normally it's on the schedule, and nobody would be there to release the air in the filter right?
I'll be going to the local pool supply store with a water sample to begin chemicals today.
