Heavy Duty Vinyl Patch kit?

Does anyone have a favorite heavy duty (or maybe just large) way to patch a vinyl liner? Here is my situation:

My above ground pool began leaking two years ago where the liner is pressing against the bolts that join the walls together. There doesn't seem to be padding to protect the liner from the bolts (or it has broken down... the pool was built before we bought the house).

I bought a kit with clear vinyl that you have to cut out and one of those puff balls to apply the glue, and patched it (using multiple patches, some overlapping... I could have done a better job). The pool is leaking again near the same area, and the ice has melted enough for me to see that some of those patches have partially detached.

If I cut off or remove what I can from the old patches, is there a good heavy duty kit I can get that would allow me to make a large patch (maybe 4-5" diameter) to cover the entire area?

Also, is there a way to mitigate the leak right now (waterproof tape?) that will be easily removable when I can get in the pool to apply a real patch? Right now there is too much ice but I may be able to reach in with some tape.

Don't try to pull off any temporary patches. They could tear or stretch the vinyl. If you must do a temporary patch, just make the permanent patch over it. Boxer adhesive for pool patches works well. Any adhesive that works for vinyl and is rated for chlorine exposure should work.

If the liner is old you may be better off replacing it. Whenever you do replace it, cover the bolts with at least 3 layers of duct tape to prevent them from cutting the vinyl.

Thanks, will look into to those options. Are the Boxer peel and stick patches any good or should I skip them? I always end up making a mess with the cement that you apply yourself to patches, but I’m willing to do it again.

The liner was actually replaced just before we moved in 2.5 years ago because the owners let it leak all the water out over the winter. I wonder if it leaked for the same reason it’s leaking now, and I wonder if they installed the current liner themselves. anyway, I want to try to keep it going for at least one more summer.
