Thanks in advance everyone. You guys are great. As above, new vinyl liner, new water, first time SWG. I’ve added baking soda, chlorine, CYA.
Tonights numbers:
FC 0.5. (FC 0 yesterday added a gallon to get to 3 ppm, 0.5 tonight so added 2 gallons)
CYA still 0 (Started in sock in skimmer yesterday, it’s hanging by return now)
pH 7.3
TA 60
CH 30
salt 200

Per your instructions I can add 2/3 salt now. Pool company that installed liner and SWG left bags of what I thought was salt, which I’m sure I’m paying for, but it’s actually bags of something called Pristiva Activator. I’m having a heck of a time figuring out what‘s in that.
Is it ok to use or I should try to make them take it back and buy plain salt?

Pristiva Activator is high proceed designer salt. It is regular salt with some added proprietary ingredients that they don;t disclose but I suspect are borates. It is ok to use if you don;t mind the price.

You can get high quality Mortons water softener salt for about $5.50/bag or Mortons pool salt at most Walmarts for $6.50/40 lbs bag.

Do you have a K-1766 Taylor Salt Test kit?

Add more liquid chlorine. Follow the FC/CYA Levels Never let your FC drop below the minimum. You should never get a FC of 0.5. Too high FC is better then too low. Get your FC up to around 6.

How much stabilizer have you added?

I suspect I’ve already bought the expensive designer salt unless I want to drive it an hour back to the pool company and try to get a refund. I haven’t got the final bill for the install yet. I’m glad it’s ok to use.
I do have a new Taylor salt test kit, it’s in the new kit I bought to refresh my test supplies for this year.
I added 2 lbs stabilizer in the sock to start as that is all I had, it didn’t dissolve in the skimmer last night so it’s in front of the return now and I will buy more tomorrow.

How much Pristiva do you have?

You need about 650 lbs of salt to get to 3200 ppm.

2 lbs of stabilizer will bring your CYA up to 10 ppm. You need to add another 10 lbs of stabilizer to get your CYA around 60 ppm.

Get your FC up around 6 for now.
