New IG build - San Diego CA - plaster complete 2/24/2020!!

Some mid build updates. Tile is done so plaster was going to go in but we needed to get pavers and fencing in otherwise the city wouldn't let us fill the pool. They also delivered and started to install the equipment today.

Surprise picture on the end. Had a crazy hail storm, which I know isn't surprising for most of the country but I can't remember the last time we had hail here in socal.

Love the tile color combo; what plaster color combo did you get?

I actually haven't picked a plaster color yet. The PB is bringing samples later this week. But honestly I am at a complete loss on what to do with. I'm leaning towards a darker color but have no clue!

Awesome thread. Thanks for posting. These pools in tight spaces require so much more thought and are so much more interesting (to me anyway).
I freaking love the coping. Is that poured concrete? Looks amazing, and I love the modern squared edges to boot.

Thank you! The picture attached is the coping that was used, but I went with a darker color. They showed up in already set pieces.

Do you know what brand of plaster your PB uses? We can help you better if we knew that. Plus you could start looking at pictures online to get an idea.

Fun out there and grab all of the manuals you can get your hands on. They tend to trash them so best to get them in hand now.

That is a LOT of hail!! Almost looks like snow!

The darker plasters can be harder to install due to showing mistakes more. It all depends on the skills of the installers.

I am getting the upgraded plaster which I believe was hydrazzo.

Also the PB brought an IC20 but said they would change it out since I asked for a large filter. The pool is around 17k gallons. Should I go all the way to IC60 or just split the difference with an IC40?

After looking at the Hydrazzo colors, I think your pool needs Mediterranean Blue. Or French Riviera if you like that tone better. 😊

Small build update. Making some headway on the pavers around the pool. Really cool to see stuff coming together and getting more usable space. Waiting on wood to be delivered to I can start building the fence and get plaster and water in this thing!

I think I've decided to go with French Riviera for my plaster color.20210131_124907.jpg20210131_124412.jpg

Are those Pavestone Yukon pavers?

No, they are Belgard catalina grana pavers. I beleive in Victorian. I wanted to go with something na little more gray, but I already had these in my back yard and leading up to the pool. I thought it would look strange changing pavers half way through my yard.

OH fun!! Now get a sample of the water you will be filling the pool with and run a set of tests on it. Do NOT do the CYA test as house water does not have any!

Share your results here and we will make you a pool shopping list.
