Hey all! Just closed on a house with an existing 6 year old pool. This will be our first pool so will reading up on the ABC's for sure. Pool inspection discovered a leaking Hayward pool heater and I am sure I will be asking advice shortly. In the short time I have joined TFP, i have skimmed the forum and it looks like there are some great contributors!

Welcome to TFP.
6 years old is young so hopefully it has been well maintained i.e. pool chemistry. You do not mention if it is using a SWCG or chlorine pucks or some other sanitation method. Please update your signature with that info.
Order your TF-100 test kit from www.tftestkits.net so you can take control of your pool.
Just a point to note, if Seller provided you a home warranty (usually a year) hopefully it included pool equipment. If it does, save that for big ticket items that may need repair or replacement such as the heater you referenced, or in the future a pump, etc. It probably won't cover any plaster damage but hopefully that is all good.

Thanks guys. Had an pool inspection and all checked out good except that heater. Some blotchiness with plaster most likely from chemicals is what the inspector stated. Have an AHS home warranty with pool coverage but doubt they fix the pool heater. Pinhole leak at heat exchanger that prior owner had patched which was poorly done. Will take my repair or replace questions to appropriate forum. WO# WO-9462 Picture Note.JPEG

If your home warranty includes pool equipment then the heater should be included. Worth the try to get it repaired properly or maybe a new one for whatever the service charge is from the AHS company.
