I figure the threads are a bit weighted with problems vs happy customers, but does anyone have any comments on the general reliability of pool robot cleaners. Was looking at the Dolphin CC Plus, but also other cleaners.

I am soon going to have a gunite in-ground pool around 10'x30' with a DE filter, and multi speed pump. I was thinking of getting a robot as I think it would take some stress off the filter, and possibly be a little better with water usage. But I don't want to have to replace or repair a robot every couple years.

Also, I am a total noob who doesn't even a pool yet. Just getting prepared for eventual ownership.

6K,

I originally bought two old used Dolphin Diagnostics off of Craig's list.. I rebuilt them and they each lasted about 6 or 7 years, before I replaced them. I have three pools and they all have robots.

I bought a new Dolphin Premier over 6 years ago and it is still running today. I did recently replace the drive tracks.. The old Diagnostics were both replaced with Dolphin S200s and they are by far much better robots. Both of the S200s are just a little over a year and half old, so I can't tell what their lifetime will be.. My guess is 5 years, but we will see.

My Premier cost about $1400 bucks, the S200's about $700 bucks.. Half the price for twice the robot.

I'd like them to last forever, but if one of them died today, I'd have a new one on order before the sun went down.

Thanks,

Jim

6K,

I don't think that either the CC or CC Plus cleans the waterline tile.. Looks like their Maytronics MSRP is about $700 bucks.. The S200 lists for about $850 or so but you can buy it from Marina Pool and Spa for about $725, with no tax and free shipping..

The S200 does do the waterline tile.. It does not have any bells or fancy whistles, which in my opinion are just not needed. In my mind the S200 is the best simple robot out there right now.
