Final grading is being done today to complete my new fiberglass pool near Nashville TN. I elected to keep equipment turned off and closed through the winter. I have a SWG but I am using liquid chlorine this winter. I got some stabilizer also to get my CYA levels up after initial fill. I also have some stockpiled calcium increaser ready. I have the TF-100 kit and the Warrior SE robot. No trees around so I didn’t get a safety cover, pool will be uncovered all winter. My question is where should I keep my levels this winter? I only worried about Free Chlorine and CYA until this point. Thanks, I’ve learned so much with this site!

Your TA, CH, and CYA are fine for the winter. Just maintain your FC and keep your pH In the 7s. Mostly just add liquid chlorine as necessary.

You’re fortunate in that you have more than enough knowledge to get started, and also that you’ll be mastering the balancing when there is a lot of room for error and the demands are low. By the time it all ramps up you’ll be a pro and it will be second nature while you have the nicest pool on the block. In the meantime there are plenty of us around to guide you through while you master it all. Alan’s got you covered above for now. Keep us posted !!

The PB told me that he threw in a couple of scoops of shock last week on final day of install. We got 2 inches of rain last night as well. I tested pool water this morning and added some liquid chlorine. Thanks!
