Good choice on the step. I’m going to ask them to add one to our spa when it’s time. We changed the plan at the last minute and I forgot to have them add it. Hopefully it won’t be a problem.

Have you seen this? It is pricey but very cool 😎. My son wanted us to get it. I wanted darker colors for the step trim so I didn’t get it, but if I had wanted white or another lighter color I definitely would have gotten it. Using this in a 4 square diamond would look good. Sparkle during the day and glow at night.

We've been watering the shell twice a day for the past two weeks. Can we stop now??? Lol. Really though. It's cold here in GA this week. We didn't water it two days ago because we had freezing temps. PB said that should be fine. They also sent someone over to cut the caps off the ends of two of the four return pipes.

Anyway, the electricians came to run the electrical stuff and set up the panels. It was dark when I got home, so I'm anxious to see the panel. The electrician also gave me a quote on running the gas line from the meter to the pool heater on the pad. The quote was $3100!!! Outside of the pool contract. I told him to hold off and let me get a couple other quotes. The gas company will upgrade the meter for free, as I understand because they want us to use plenty of gas. I know every job is different, but the quote seemed high to me. The current gas meter is on the level of our basement by the walkout door. There is about a 10 yard distance from the meter to the retaining wall that the line has to travel up to reach the back yard level. Then there's a straight shot to the panel about 25 yards. I'm just curious was other gas contractors would quote us? We'll be getting the list of contractors from the gas company so we'll know they're reputable.

On a more positive note...they started delivering our stone for the coping, spa facade, and raised beam!!!
 
Ouch.... $3100 is some kinda steep. How far is the equipment pad from the meter?? Or maybe you live in such an upscale neighborhood that they just add a little padding assuming "aww, they can afford it"??

So you need about 100 foot run for the gas line. $31/foot. It is on the high side but not outrageous. See if some other contractor is hungry for the work.

Since this is our first time, we didn't really have reference point. We're also a little upset that the PB didn't tell us that the gas line would be our responsibility. We assumed it was included same as the electrical run. They did tell us we'd have to contact the gas company to upgrade our meter. We'll try to get some other contractors to check it out, but hopefully their scheduling won't delay any of our other work. It shouldn't, since the heater won't be fired up for a while and the path that needs to be trenched won't be under any decking or finished landscaping any time soon.

electricians dont do gas lines, plumbers do. In my area it is pricey, about $20 per linear foot. I have seen posts on here that were about $10/linear ft.
 
We've got 3 independent plumbers coming out next week to give us quotes. It'll be interesting to see what we end up getting quoted. Especially since like march2012 says he's seen $10-20/linear foot.
 
Well, things have slowed down quite a bit during the holidays. Hopefully, we’ll start moving again on Monday. Yesterday was pretty rainy, so I hope things dry out enough for someone to show up. I’ve been busy on the phone, so we do have a few things lined up.

Gas line: I had two plumbers, besides the one my PB sent, to give me quotes for running the gas line to the pool heater. One was $1000 more than the $3100 I was quoted by the PB’s guy and the other was more than double the original quote. So the PB’s guy will be back next week (I hope) to run that pipe.

Landscaping: The landscaper my PB typically uses is pretty sick in the hospital with Covid. They recommended another company who came out and quoted $25,000 for grading, sod, and a few privacy trees. Needless to say, we’re soliciting more quotes. I’m not here to knock anyone’s hustle, but c’mon!

Marker tiles other bling: Had to pay a petty penny to get marker tiles on the ledges, steps and spa seat. They haven’t been installed yet. I think they’ll go on just before plaster. I was quoted an outrageous price by my project manager to add glass beads to the pebble finish. Apparently, he mis-quoted and have talked to the main office about this. They will get back to me on the price to hand cast the beads on the surface.

Fence: We don’t have an existing fence so we called on 3 different companies for quotes. The lowest quote was almost a third of the highest quote. We chose the lowest one. Not to save money, but they had the best reputation and were more knowledgeable than the other two.

That’s all I’ve got so far. I’ll get more pics up soon. They did build out our stone steps and fireplace. I think decking is next?

It’s a couple of weeks, but the crew came out yesterday and laid most of the decking. They’re back today to finish up the detail cuts. They seem to be doing a great job. I mean, it looks great. We chose the Belgrade Lafitt pavers. We visited a couple of pools my PB had done and fell in love with the selections one of their clients made, so were really trying to copy their finishes. If I could figure out where they bought their patio furniture, I’d copy that too! I’ll snap some pictures after I take a little nap.

They finished the paver decking, stabilized the edges with concrete, and sanded the joints today.

Next step is getting our deck modified to move the stairs to the side. We did this so we could bring the pool a little closer to the house to gain more yard behind the pool. It only saved about 4 ft, but we think it was worth it so we’re not pushed up against the trees along the back of our yard.

We also need the landscaper to get started. We plan on some river rock behind the pool with some stepping stones leading to the spa on the left side. You may be able to see the pavers end behind the tanning ledge to the left. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get as much decking as we wanted because of impervious ground restrictions. We opted for the river rocks and stepping stones on the back side to at least have enough sitting area around the fire pit and the decking on the shallow end. We’ll have grass behind that and hopefully it will be far enough back that we won’t have a lot of grass clippings getting in the pool.

I noticed your paver and thought to myself that those look great. Then realized you choose the same pavers we are going to go with :) (Belgrade Lafitt). What color are they, I know they have different colors by region? Are they the Lafitt Grana Slab or the Rustic Slab, do you know? They look to have more texture on them.
