Hi All-
New pool here. Included with our contract was one month of free chemical maintenance. First week pool service was on vacay so I handled the chemicals myself using TFP methods-everything was perfect once I got the hang of it (Sunday to Tuesday). However, this week the PB and pool service both came to service the pool and FILLED the in-line chlorinator with pucks. Since then my CYA has increased by 15ppm. Fine, in TX august I probably will do better with CYA of 50. However, my FC is constant at 13+ppm. (still safe based on what I've read, as it is below SLAM levels, but I'd rather not keep dumping in CYA from pucks).
When I go out to the chlorinator to turn it down it stays at 13. I'm not sure if its that I don't have much real 'control' over the chlorinator, or if its how many dang gone pucks they put in the chlorinator.
SO...I've been researching how to remove pucks and dry them out. But I know when the pool service comes back next week he'll just load it up again.

Seems like my options are:
1. Leave the pucks but turn it down/off and manage CL myself with bleach----(Assuming my FC eventually does start falling). Take them out once service is done in mid-sept.
2. Take the pucks out and dry them only to have the pool boy put them back in next week-on repeat for the next few weeks until the free service is up.
I'm not sure how to post the link to my logs, but they are there and I use the TFP test kit.
