Long island NY
Hi! I’m in Long island,NY. My husband and I just Put in a semi inground pool 2.5 ft deep. Its an oval 15×24 52 inch high Trevi pool. Salt water, resin with steel wall pool. Problem is we added water and we noticed the back side of the pool where the straight buttress is has slightly bowed outward. We have filled in some of the back dirt already and we plan on putting stone around the pool. The pool it too finished to drain and fix. Do we have to worry about the wall caving? Or should it be fine since it has dirt up against the outside. Please advise. Thank you

Have u maintained all these clearances?

Are the buttresses level? Maybe a pic from a little farther away would help too.

I can try a new photo in the morning. I maintained all the clearances. I think the stone under the buttress sank a bit. My husband doesnt want to drain the pool. I'm concerned about it collapsing. It does have dirt up to the buttress connections on the side of the pool.

I’m not well versed in buttress/oval pools but i do know they have an extreme amount of pressure on the sides whereas in a round pool the pressure is more evenly distributed.
With over 9k gallons of water there’s more than enough pressure (approx 75k pounds) there to do some damage.
The weak link will give.

I'm no structural engineer, but I dont see it collapsing. I do worry it may buckle, crease or bend real bad which would possibly cause permanent damage to the wall. Even when they are salvageable for use afterwards, they look like crud for life and would be a major disappointment on a brand new pool.

How far out of level is the water ? I realize its partially buried so that means u can’t see the condition of the wall underneath the dirt.
definitely need more pics from a little farther away.

Here is a thread from today where a loose liner during filling buckled the wall. Scroll down to the end. You have a different root cause but may end up in the same boat.
