I just had a new above ground pool installed with the circupool rj-30. The pool is 7500 gallons and I got a free upgrade on the swg. I know that chlorine should be 1-3ppm but I don’t know how long to run the swg and what power. Is there a way I can set it and let it run without constantly checking the chlorine?

Does the literature that came with the SWCG have any kind of information stating expected chlorine production based on output settings and pump run time? If not, you're just going to have to test and and adjust until you find the sweet spot for your pool volume. Once you do find it, you can test less often.

Im not familiar with that SWG, but it should have a formula to tell you how much chlorine it will produce per day. For example, my SWG produces 12 ppm per day when the pump runs 24 hours and the SWG is set at 100%. Im sure someone will help. In the meantime, you might want to catch up on some reading here. Every pool is different. You will have to play with it to determine where to set it. Start with 75% power and adjust from there according to your chemical testing.
Thanks everyone. I think the rj-30 is oversized for my pool (i got free upgrade from RJ-16) . I will run it at 25% power for a couple of hours next time. First time I ran overnight at 50% power it made too much chlorine (8ppm).

The average loss per day for a pool in sun most of the day is 3ppm. To generate 3ppm with RJ30 the pump would need to run 5.75 hours. 1-3 fc in your pool is too low and asking for an algae bloom. Please read the pool school articles especially the cya/fc relationship.

My pool has only 7500 gallons. Is this based on 30,000 gallons? My cya is 60-70. I am basing 1-3ppm on circupool manual. Is 3ppm too low?

See my post above for Recommended levels. If you follow the Circupool manual, you will get to fight algae regularly. They just mimic the EPA ranges for drinking water.
