Liquid Chlorine
AGP 5060 gallons, taylor 2006 first test number are
TA 0
PH 7.4
FC 0
CYA 0
CH 97

Do I add my chemicals in order I listed?
How long do I wait between TA and PH?
Pool math says add 0.6oz of soda ash that's a very small amount....

Not sure if I do CYA before chlorine?
And do I set pool math to slam level or just adjust to normal FC range for a fresh fill (SLAM setting confuses me)
Thanks

Welcome!

The only time you’ll SLAM is when your water isn’t clear. Having a fresh fill, you’re golden right now.

Always remember (when not slamming) you’d rather add too little of something than too much especially being new to the TFP way and especially until you get to know how your pool and water act.

Get some CYA in there ASAP - use the sock method and only use about 3/4 of what pool math suggests. Don’t rely on your cya test result until 24 hours after the 3/4 amount is fully dissolved.

Right after you add CYA you can add your bleach/chlorine.

15 minutes later add your TA increaser, again only using 3/4 recommended for now. This test result may be reliable within a few hours, but I’d likely wait 12 hours just to be safe.

Leave your ph alone for right now. It may increase when you add for TA.

Since you have ABG, last thing you need to be concerned with is CH. Go ahead and buy the pool store CH increaser to get your number up some, but the stuff isn’t cheap! Order some Snow Joe ice melt (red package) from Sam’s first chance you get (prob ok with 25 lbs) so you’ll have it on hand for next time.

Be real careful with your cya level - it’s easy to add too much and then you have an issue if you need to SLAM.

Welcome to the forum!
Please check your TA test result. A TA of 0 and a pH of 7.4 are not chemically compatible.
It does not matter for your pool, but a CH of 97 is not able to be measured by that test kit.
Do get some chlorine and CYA into the pool water tomorrow.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.

Thanks for your reply. I will retest everything in the morning again when I am not surrounded by curious kiddos and hopefully get more suitable results as it seems to many of my numbers dont make sense. CH was a typo and should have been 40? I think......

Ty for the reply. Lastly how long after I do all of this should I wait before it's ok for the kids to swim? Appreciate your time and help!

My kid has swam in some nasty merky looking water (teenagers!), followed by a shower with anti-fungal soap and shampoo.

Rule of thumb seems to be if you can even remotely see the bottom of the pool, swimming is fine. But I make my kid wait 15 minutes post chemical additions to swim, though never during a SLAM.

You were right my TA is 100( no more letting kids help with math) but pool math didnt tell me how much acid to use to reduce?

No need to reduce ta for now - if you’re ph rises to 7.8 you can lower that w/ ma & it will bring ta down some but for now its good 👍🏻
Also your ch is fine - you have a vinyl liner😊
Hope you followed the sock method & added stabilizer
You will add chlorine daily to target according to FC/CYA Levels never letting it fall to minimum for your cya level.

I did add cya using sock method and it didnt take to long at all to dissolve in front of my return.

Run your normal cycle of the pump for the day. Wait at least 24-48 hours after the CYA was fully dissolved before testing for it.

So based on your 75% recommendation my CYA was at 35 this morning approximately 24 after adding stabilizer. I then used the fc/cya chart and made an FC adjustment based on an FC reading of 1.2
My question is tommorow morning I am going to test CYA again and raise to 45. Once I have added stabilizer I will test FC and then use chart based on reading of 35 again? Or projected target reading of 45? Hopefully that makes sense. Sorry if it's a dumb question. I didnt raise CYA this morning again because someone suggested waiting 48hrs to make sure the CYA number was correct.

Do not add any more cya, dont need it in the northwest. CYA are read in 10 increments so you will call it 40 and add FC as FC/CYA Levels.
Ok on my Taylor 2006 the CYA was halfway between the 30 and 40 so I just assumed it was 35. My target CYA on pool math is 45, should I change that to 40 then? And once target CYA is reached does it ever change? How often should I check CYA?
Thanks for your help!

You wanna always aim for the upper fc target for your cya on FC/CYA Levels so u never get below min. Otherwise a real sunny day, lots of swimming, or debris could put u in the danger zone. Its a good rule of thumb to dose beforehand to compensate for parties/ heavy bather loads & then check it again afterwards.
Your ph is a tad low but some aeration (turn jets upward/splashing) ought to bring it right up.
