Hello! I know this is an old post but I just put a pool in and have thermal natural bluestone coping and pool pavers around my pool. We have a salt water system and I am noticing the “picture framing” effect and stains from the water being splashed on the deck and patio. I am devastated seeing as the pool deck getting wet is making me upset! I can’t believe that the salt makes these marks and I had no idea it could happen. I scrubbed down the first time we used it with water and a brush. The splash rings somewhat came out but not the grout stains. I was told it’s normal and would fade over time but I’m still not seeing a change and we only went in once with two kids. I can’t imagine a party. We are wondering if we should seal it but I’m not sure...it might be worse. It seems a the polymer sand is “bleeding” into the pavers making a border around the paver. The mason said it was a normal look but I was never told it would do this. I know the pavers will change in color over time but I had no idea in one day. I’m afraid when in rains it will look awful. Any information will help, I’m just so upset.

The marks can't be avoided but they won't hurt anything. They'll get washed over when it rains. Can you post a picture? The only option is to not use a swcg and just add liquid chlorine daily if needed. The paver sand excess will soon go away. The pavers will weather and you won't notice it. I can't say if a sealer will help. By the end of the 1st year nothing will look new anymore. Take a pic of the pavers too. I can't tell you how to feel but I'd enjoy the pool, certainly nothing to let it ruin your fun new pool (it's all expected).
