Pool Leak: In-ground Pool Skimmer / Vacuum line Alternative

Hey guys,

Need some help with my pool. I'll try to keep it short.

I have a leak on side of the pool where the actual constructed pool ends and connects to decorative tile work around the inner top edge of the pool.

My skimmer sits above this line and regardless of the amount of water I add, it always drops down to this line with in a day or two.

There is also no dedicated Vacuum line in the pool. I thought about getting the Skim-a-Round Ultimate but looking for better alternative to my issue in the short term.

I was quoted over $15,000 for repair and possible damage to the pool. Dropping the skimmer line would be $3,000 but I just want to get by for now while I make my final decision.

Could you recommend a better temporary solution for both skimmer and vacuum line. Any input is greatly appreciated. Search online for floating skimmer doesn't result in much other than the skim-a-round.

Thank you,

Are you saying you think the leak is in your skimmer? Are you 100% certain you know where the leak is? Can you find a way to totally block off the skimmer opening and see if it still leaks? I assume you only have 1 skimmer.

Thank you for your reply.

No, leak is not around the skimmer. The leak is between where the tile line ends and meets the pool line . I had pool leak detection confirm. The problem is the water leak level drops below the skimmer line so the skimmer become ineffective. I am looking for a temporary solution which can replace skimmer function. Something like what they use in above ground pool or the skim a round ultimate.

I think the question is how would one continue running the pump as skim if the skimmer had become ineffective?

Hope that helps clarify my situation.

How long do you plan on going with the jury-rigged setup? There is no way I know of to get a skimmer effect without a skimmer. You have another drain from the pool right like a floor drain? And, you are able to turn off your skimmer suction line?

I think you'd be stuck manually skimming your water. Have you tried just globbing silicone caulk in the area you think it is leaking?

Please fill out your sigline with your pool details! -> https://www.troublefreepool.com/account/signature
