I have a sta rite pld50 D.E. Filter and a green pool. Yesterday I started it and added 6 lbs of D.E. Today the filter needs to be cleaned and pool is blue/green. Obviously I have to clean the cartilage. Do I have to add 6 more lbs of D.E. once cleaned or is there a trick? Last year the pool wasn’t as dirty for start up.

Rule of thumb is if you backwash and rinse the filter but do not take apart and clean then you should add 80% of the required DE back.
If you follow the directions in this manual, you did a 100% cleaning and need the full amount of DE. Each and every time. That's the curse of DE filters --- they clog fast with a green pool.
