Ball Valve is leaking, anyone have opinions on how to fix or where to buy the valve handle

Hi,

I have a ball valve that is leaking. I can get it to reduce leaking down to a trickle but I wanted to know if anyone else has one of these and if they know if the valve handle can be replaced and how? Where to get a replacement? I can almost get it 100% stopped if I turn the valve toward open but then the ball valve will leak a little and the handle will stop leaking. Another option I see if possibly getting a cap to screw on the end and open the valve a little more but I have no idea where to get the end piece to screw on. Any opinions? My pool repair guy was 135 to completely remove it or 350 to replace it and that is not going to happen.

It's either 3/4" or 1".

Just get a threaded cap. Pipe thread.

Is the valve threaded or glued? Me dont recommend those types of valves.

I can't tell if it's glued or threaded on the connected end. How can I find out? What do you recommend as a replacement or do you know if the valve handle can be replaced?

The handle says 1-1/2", but it doesn't look that big. In any case, there is a threaded cap available at Home Depot or Lowe's.

The handle is removable. There should be a screw under the round center red cap.

Maybe try some spray silicone lubricant to see if that helps.

Spray the silicone in the valve and work it in.

Ok, looking closer, it is 1-1/2".

It's glued. So, there's no easy fix.

I would just get a 1.5" threaded cap and keep it capped until you want to use it.

You could get a threaded valve to screw onto the existing threads but that's awkward and it will stick out too far.

whats the valve for? Unless your ready to redo everything a quick fix wold be a cap.

Thanks for the help everyone. Per James I tried some wd40 and was able to pull off the little cap and unscrewed the handle and pushed the seal down that was inside and put it back together and does not leak anymore. Awesome!!!!

Note that WD40 Specialist silicone spray would be the preferred lubricant and not regular wd40.

ok thanks. the handle no longer leaks but the ball valve does. i guess i will cap it off too.
